"You won't be disappointed here."
In our experience this hotel deserves more that 5 stars; it is superb. The location of the hotel is perfect for sightseeing and very quiet. The entrance from the street is a little dark, but inside the lobby is light and bright. The reception staff were most courteous and obliging. Our room had everything necessary, including shampoo/body wash; hand wash and lotion. Very comfy beds. A safe is also provided. The restaurant is amazing. There is so much to chose from, even freshly made waffles and omelettes. Even a pianist at breakfast, without being ostentatious. As we were leaving the hotel on our last day, we were given a small box with hand made chocolates - a nice touch. We would more than recommend this hotel it is without doubt, most exceptional.
"As it should be"
This four star hotel does really live up to the standard you expect. Perfectly located in the middle of the city and with very high standard. Service very good and friendly. Bath Tub was a surprise. Few hotels have them today. Perfect to soak in after walking for a day.
"Good location and cosy rooms"
Very happy for my business stay in this hotel. Convenient and comfortable rooms, great breakfast and nice drinks at the bar. Very close to the city centre by foot. Sympathetic employees and convenient rooms for business meetings.
"Great hotel but need to sort the air con out!"
The hotel has great staff, fabulous location ( about a 5 min walk from the old town square) and the breakfast buffet is really good. We stayed in a room on the fifth floor taking the B elevator. The room itself was a little on the small size but it is nicely decorated. We visited in mid October so the temperature was coolish but far from cold. The room was extremely hot all of the time which was unbearable we didn't sleep the first night. The air conditioning unit didn't work and we were informed by staff that it was set for winter heating and unable to be changed. The hotel staff were nice but the only thing they could do was open our window. We had to sleep the following three night with the window wide open to get any air into the room. The hotel really is nice but they really need to sort the air conditioning out!
"Sadly, not as GRAND as expected"
I have stayed in hotels in 10 cities in Europe, and sadly, this one is the ONLY one which I would give only an average rating. The hotel has a good location, short walk to Palladium Mall, Kotleta restaurant is a short walk (between hotel and Mall) and also there is a very good currency exchange almost on the corner, offering much better rates than the hotel. Walking to the Old Town takes about 20 minutes, many shops and restaurants along the way. The positives are that the rooms were a good size; we stayed in room 323. There is a good size wardrobe for your clothing, with ample shelf space also for hanging clothes. The bathroom was also large. Breakfast served each morning was very good, with ample selection of food that was always refilled, and kept warm. .Weekends they have a man playing the piano, which added a nice touch. Staff at breakfast were efficient and helpful. The housekeeping staff kept the rooms very clean, and when we encountered in the halls, always greeted us with a "hello" and a smile. Housekeeping staff and breakfast staff were really the only friendly ones. The negatives, in my opinion: the carpet, though vacuumed each day, was heavily stained, especially between the bed closer to the window and the window. It really should be replaced. It was warm while we were there and called to the front desk to ask how to operate the air conditioning. They sent someone up very quickly, who removed the ceiling vent, rinsed it off and replaced it. We asked how to operate the thermostat and because he could not speak English, could not tell us. However, t did seem to work when he left. BUT we noticed hours later, that he left his master key in the light switch in our room; not something I think was particularly safe. One day we called to the desk to have someone come up to unlock our window, so we could get fresh air in the evening. We were told that for "safety reasons" the windows could not be unlocked. The next day, I noticed that 5 rooms across from us, in the courtyard had their windows open! I called again (not telling them I saw windows open) and within minutes someone came up to unlock the window.....no questions asked!! Our room had 2 twin beds, and while my friend liked hers, I found the mattress way too hard to get a refreshing night's sleep. Only one table between the beds (as opposed to one on either side, I think are a bit inconvenient. The bathroom did not have individual toiletries (shampoo, soap, etc.) but squeeze containers mounted to the walls; soap by the sink and a combination shampoo/body wash on the wall of the shower. I understand it is more economical for hotels to do this, however I prefer individual containers. There was a shower/tub combination, with a nice deep tub for bathing.....BUT, there was NO way to reach the soap dispenser mounted high on the opposite wall of the shower. After being out all day shopping, sightseeing, etc., I like to have a nightcap in my room before bedtime. I understand that Americans like ice more than many Europeans do, BUT getting ice to take up to your rom should not be as difficult as it was! The bartender seemed like he had never had such a request! He had no ice bucket, or pitcher to put the ice in. He filled 2 small glasses with ice and I nicely asked for 2 larger glasses. He told me could not use the larger glasses, and fairly slammed them on the bar. This happened the second night also. The third night, I walked to the desk where I approached a gentleman who I assumed to be a manager. He solved the problem by getting a plastic bag, walked with me to the bar and had the bartender fill it halfway with ice. Not a classy way to get ice, but it did the trick, and he did NOT have a sour attitude as the bartender did. He even apologized that he had nothing but a plastic bag! I am sure I am not the ONLY person who has ever asked for ice to take to their room, but by the reaction of the bartender, I was! When we checked out, we went to the desk to turn in the keys and the girl checked that no mini bar items were used, and simply said "all is good". She did not say thank you, did not ask if we enjoyed our stay, have a pleasant trip home, come again.....NOTHING! So while this hotel had some good points, to me, the lack of interest, the indifference of some of the employees made me give this hotel only 3 stars. This was my second visit to Prague, so I do not plan to return. However, if I did, I sadly would not stay in this hotel again. Encountered too many employees who were not very "hospitable" for being in the hospitality business, and there are too many other hotels from which to choose in this beautiful city.
