"One of the best hotels!!!!"
Arrived on Saturday 15th October, and two nights accomodatiom, however wished we could stay for longer. Hotel staff are very friendly and go out of there way to help, most speaking reasonable English. Communial areas all lovely, and spotlessly clean . Rooms a pleasure to stay - all the extra's, rooms are large and airy, lovely bathroom and shower in wet room area, and all the nice free toiletries, all good quality. Lovely fresh bed linen and comfortable beds with bedside control for dimming the lights, turning the aircondition on/off and lots of other clever controls. Although breakfast is not included, we chose to eat... was delicious.. lots of choice, nice hot selection breads and pastries- cant fault any of this. We would certainly recommend this hotel, in a lovely complex (together with Sofital Hotel) plus Mercure- we stayed at the "Grand Mercure" - so was worth to stay here. This Grand Mercure is a 4 star plus hotel - would certainly return -any time. Very centally located. Uncle & nephew
"Very nice hotel"
Stayed here for 2 nights in a superior room. Lovely hotel in beautiful grounds. Porter service on arrival and friendly reception. Our room was spacious and spotless with only critisism been poor lighting in the room (which unfortunatly seems to be the case in most hotels) Western breakfast was more than adequate.
"Shiny all the way through"
In our experience in this hotel the gloss wasn't just on the surface, as it sometimes is in Chinese hotels, even the higher priced ones. The gloss was all the way through, a lovely foyer (the hotel shares some beautifully manicured gardens with two other establishments - it's like a hotel and convention centre precinct), friendly staff, spacious rooms with lovely furnishings and a practical bathroom that is appropriately separated from the rest of the accommodation. We were given an upgrade on check-in (which was very efficient and seamless) so not sure how room we had may have differed from what we first booked but what we got was comfortable. The air conditioning worked well even during the night when I am convinced other hotels, like the Novotel in Beijing, take control and never have it cool enough. On one evening, being too tired to go out again, we called room service which was delivered and picked up promptly and efficiently by very friendly staff. Breakfast selection was pretty good - yes there was Bircher Muesli. The dining room was opulent as expected but spacious and practically set out. A close walk to shops and public transport but not the older part of the city.
"Bad Housekeeping "
Stay here for my 4days 3nights holiday and got to say the hotel needs a fair bits of maintenance. The queen size mattress is looping one size thus giving me a bad backache. Air condition also need a little servicing as I can feel the dust in the air. Toilet definitely needs a upgrade as things starts falling apart and looks gloomy .
"Few days sightseeing after working in Shanghai"
Came to this hotel as a result of offer and member of 'club accor'. It was very good - as expected of the mercure chain. Even the orange juice and bread tasted more like European versions than those usually available in China. Very helpful staff, especially the concierge.
