"A lovely stay"
We only stayed here for one night but were made to feel very special. We were upgraded due to it being a special trip and the staff always went out of their way to assist us. The bed was super comfy and the underfloor heating in the bathroom was much appreciated! Breakfast was nice but not exceptional however the surroundings in the breakfast restaurant are beautiful. I do agree with the review below that the toilet seat was weirdly uncomfortable which I have never experienced before! The complimentary pick-up from the airport was great and a welcome start to our trip. The hotel is in a great location to explore the local area. We ate at Easy Wine, Tokyo City and had coffee at Apsara Tea House, went up the church tower and went to the square with the building of the Blackheads. The buildings are lovely and you'll find yourselves constantly taking photos! All in all a great hotel and we would definitely return. Great value for money too.
"Nice and clean hotel, everything checks out"
This is a very nice hotel, in a great location, right in old town and also very close to the ferry port. Our room was really nice and clean, and the bath was okay too. The breakfast was quite nice and with lots of options, and served in a really nice bright room with a glass ceiling. However there were just a couple of things that I'd like to point out, and I want to stress that this is me being nitpicky, but this being a 5-star hotel I assume that it strives for perfection, so here we go: - The toilet seat was strangely uncomfortable: I'm not sure why but I think it might be because it is quite thin and narrow. I'm not a toilet expert but I can't remember being uncomfortable on a toilet seat before! My partner had the same feeling, so if this is a common complaint, I would definitely advise a change. - The live parrot in the cage in the breakfast room made me a bit sad: apart from the fact that his cage is really small for a parrot that size, he also looked overfed and in a catatonic state. - When we checked out we heard one of the staff offering a middle-aged couple to have their luggage brought to their room; this was not offered to us, possibly because we are a much younger couple. I've seen this (slight) differential treatment several times, depending if it's a young couple or an older couple, somehow commending more respect. We would've likely refused the offer, but the point is that a "perfect" hotel would treat each of their guests equally, regardless of their looks. Again these are very minor points and the staff was extremely nice. I definitely recommend this hotel overall.
Fantastic old, well taken care of, hotel in old town of Riga. Serviceminded and friendly staff, great rooms. Loads of restaurants and bars neer by (but not any disturbance from theese) and short walking distance to all of old town and shopping centre.
Great hotel, hands down! Got upgraded to deluxe room and it was big and very modern and clean. Breakfast was certainly one of the best I've had. Go for the made to order pancakes! So good to be able to book sauna for free and have it all to ourselves. Do it!
