"Family visit to Koyoto"
The hotel has big rooms and buffet meals so it is very good for a couple and child to share ( my child is a grown up and there was plenty of room. The hotel is next to a subway terminus so it is easy to travel to anywhere, or if fact to the hotel with baggage. On leaving we checked out and the hotel provides a service that takes your bags (free of change) to the main Kyoto station for you to collect after your last days site seeing. We found it convenient in all respects.
"A truly 5 Star Hotel"
Spend three nights here with my daughters. I booked two double rooms and on arrival were we upgraded to a suite at no extra cost. The suite was fantastic two double rooms, living area bar area, even a board room. The staff were all impeccably dressed and everyone spoke perfect English, nothing was too much trouble all the staff we spoke to were helpful and of course very polite. We did get to take a peak and a standard double room and that also looked good. The buffet breakfast was really good, both Japanese and western style food and with chef's available to cook food to order anything and everything was available. The hotel location was good next to the convention centre at the end of the metro line so it was really convenient for travelling into the centre of Kyoto.
"not bad but overpriced"
The hotel is situated at the end of the Karasuma line, next to a small lake and close to the Mt. Hiei cable car. The rooms are very large for Japan; mine had a rgeat view of the mountainside. The receptionists and the concierge were extremely helpful in every respect. Where the hotel falls short are (1) the rates which are probably double to what they should be, and (2) Food, which tends to run out. Every single meal during the week I stayed there ran out ... they typically had only token plates of sushi/sashimi and sweet; often they were lines and the hotel really has no way to accommodate them. Given the charges, their penny pinching with food is a surprise, to put it mildly. Another vexing thing was that my favorite (running) T-shirt disappeared over one day's service. I initially did not give it a second thought, thinking it fell behind the bed etc but after a detailed search over 2 days it was nowhere to be found. Taken together, I find this hotel to be mildly disappointing.
"Huge hotel with huge rooms and peaceful"
This hotel is most apt for people visiting kyoto for the ICC. The ICC is right opposite the hotel but due to the huge size of the hotel, it is apprx 15 min walk. The metro station is at a stone's throw and it is a 20 min metro ride to the Kyoto railway station. Opt for twin beds as they are huge. Pros: Rooms are huge. Toiletries are awesome. They have a check in counter at the kyoto railway station which is very useful. You can drop your luggage at the kyoto station and can go to the hotel without dragging it. Please note that you cannot check in after 2 pm Similar service is available from the hotel to the kyoto station but only till 11 am. You can have alternate day housekeeping and get 500 yen voucher for the same. This voucher can be spent in the restaurant or in the hotel gift shop. Ultra modern commode with hot water sprinkler too! Cons: No english tea is given in the room. The only option is japanese tea. You will have to beg for sugar and milk. They give only 1 creme or milk or sugar and make faces if you ask for these complimentary items. The staff doesn't wish to bring your luggage downstairs and is very reluctant.
I cant tell you how peaceful and relaxing it is to stay in this beautiful hotel. I enjoy the scenary of the trees from my hotel window. I feel like living in the middle of a well maintained garden. The hotel is within walking distances to the subway station and other convenience shops.
