"2017 London Marathon!"
Arrived in london for the marathon. My first international marathon. The hotel is nicely tucked away from the hustle bustle. But only 1 block from queensway underground and 2 blocks from bayswater underground. Hyde park is several feet away. 10 min walk to Notting Hill. The single room is small - but if u r here for a few nights it's doable. The staff is friendly and very accommodating. I felt I needed more space in my room so asked the front manager "Julian" for assistance. He was very helpful - I asked to see a few rooms before I picked one . Julian and staff were more than happy to assist and make sure that I was comfortable..... I am. Good location - great staff and peace and quiet. That is all one asks for when running a marathon. Thank you Grand Royale London Hyde Park.
"Renovation works finished, breakfast back on the 2nd floor dining room"
Just stayed at the Grand Royale (one of the two "regular" places I stay in when in London). The renovations are finished and breakfast is back in the lovely 2nd floor dining room. Breakfast is a real treat here and well worth the supplement when you book the hotel. The hotel entrance, lobby and common spaces (the building is an old theater that has been kept in marvelous shape) themselves remain a unique London experience especially for tourists. The legendary boiler and its occasional problems are part and parcel of retaining the atmosphere.
"Perfect London Hotel!"
We stayed at the Grand Royale London last week (mid April). When we landed in London, the hotel called and told us that they had moved us from their hotel to a different hotel. (Yes, I'm serious.) We called and told them to fix the situation....we aren't switching hotels. They agreed to correct whatever was wrong and we arrived to a gorgeous lobby. The staff is friendly and SO helpful. The room was TINY (like many in Europe) but nice and clean. The breakfast was a highlight! DELICIOUS!! They went out of their way to order porridge for my food allergy sensitive daughter. The eggs and sausage were so good. Our AC stopped working mid way through but they brought a fan. Despite the AC and being asked to bizarrely switch hotels, we really enjoyed it and would stay again!
Our stay at the Grand Royale on Easter Sunday was just fantastic- all staff were welcoming and were happy to go above and beyond throughout our stay. As this was a birthday trip, we were especially well looked after- waiting in our room were wine, fruit and chocolate with a lovely card. We were heading to an evening event, and the front desk staff kindly printed off our tickets for us, When we got back (very late) there was a chocolate dessert waiting in the room for us! The next morning we woke up to an easter card from the staff, and then went downstairs to take part in the Easter egg hunt with the staff and other guests. This was great fun, and the lounge and Theatre bar were stunning. We won the egg hunt, and were presented with a large chocolate prize, and also a drink in the Theatre bar- a great end to our stay. The location is fantastic- one street away from Queensway tube station, and a few minutes walk to Kensington gardens. The hotel and surrounding areas are beautiful. I will be booking again very soon- many thanks to Hiral and the team for making our stay so memorable!
super location, lots of small restaurants and cafes nearby, mobile phone for the UK and some other countries free of chanrge! The rooms are tiny and so are the beds, but this is quite normal for London. Good breakfast!
