The facilities were clean and modern. It is an easy walk into the town of Biarritz. There is a restaurant which good food and there are some small eateries/restaurants nearby if you feel like going out in the evenkng. The staff helped me organise car hire to drive to Spain for the day; very helpful.
We were looking for something downtown, and this was well located and priced right for a Sunday night. The room was OK, but not as nice as we expected. We did not spend much time indoors so it was not a problem.
Stayed for 5 days with friends. Used the hotel as a base only so our small double room was adequate - friends larger twin would have been better were we using the hotel more. Small double room not suitable to relax in, but as a base absolutely fine. Hotel is aged and needs a refurb - but then the prices would go up. Spa bath in en-suite was great and worked well. Cleanish - but not perfect. smashing location. Beds comfortable and slept well. free programmable safe in each room. Would stay again.
"Dirty and basic and certainly not worth the money !"
This must be one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in.I booked for a special birthday treat and expected decent level of cleanliness and amenities with it supposedly being a 4 star hotel. Expensive and certainly not worth the money. If I had not pre booked this hotel I would have walked straight out again on arrival... main entrance / lobby disgusting carpet and not at all inviting. The family room was dirty and the shower / bathroom dated and in poor state of repair. Carpet stained and in need of a good clean. Light shades above one of the bed kept falling off and my daughter burnt her arm brushing against the hot bulb. The other room was slightly better but still dated with ripped wallpaper and other items requiring attention. Breakfast was at the best edible, but very poor selection of cold meats cheeses etc and my mother was advised to use a soup bowl for cereal as no plates left and on another occasion had to wait for a teacup to come out of dishwasher. Another issue was the parking which I had paid upfront for. On arrival we couldn't get in to underground park due to roof box on car. They did allow us to park behind hotel but was by far not ideal.Complaint was made immediately on return home from stay but no compensation offered because we hadn't complained at time. We did not complain at time as it was booked as a family birthday treat and I didn't wish to cause undue stress. Most disappointed in the whole experience. Would certainly not recommend and will not visit again. Only saving grace was the location , but having said that there are plenty other hotels with as good or better locations to choose from.
The hotel is in a good location for the main beach (Grand Plage), and the shopping area. However, for its supposed 4 stars we found our room (no. 405) to be somewhat tired and in need of maintenance. Some of the fixtures and fittings were either broken or missing, the telephone in the room wasn't working, and there was a big chunk of tile missing in the bathroom. Not what one would expect for a 4 star rating. The worst thing for us, however, was the very poor customer service. We arrived to find that our room was not yet ready (it turned out that it was still occupied!), but no offer of hospitality, either a drink or a snack or anything to make our wait more comfortable, was forthcoming. Worse was to come. Having just about settled into the room, a substantial leak appeared from the ceiling. The receptionist was unable, or unwilling, to offer anything more than a promise to call the off-site engineer to come and fix the leak, with no guarantee of when that might be, and there wasn't (allegedly) a single alternative room in the whole hotel in which to accommodate us. There followed a rather circular 'conversation' along the lines of: "Can we speak with the manager'" "The manager's not available." "So who's the senior person in charge'" "I am" "So do something". "I can't, you need to speak to the manager". "So, let us speak to the manager" "She's not available". And so on..... The receptionist clearly did not want to contact the manager. Eventually, we did get a call to the room (the non-working telephone by now having been replaced) from the manager, extremely displeased at having her weekend (it was, after all, after 7pm on a Friday evening!) disturbed. She quite rudely refused to offer any kind of compensation for our discomfort (at, let's not forget, a FOUR STAR establishment, where one might very reasonably expect a trouble-free welcome and a relaxed, hassle-free and stress-free stay), and, when asked how much she valued the hotel's reputation said, get this...: "I DON'T CARE", and hung up! We asked the receptionist to give us the manager's name; clearly uncomfortable they said: "We're not allowed." "Not allowed' Does the manager have a boss' (more uncomfortable): "Umm, yes....her father". "Ahh, and he would be the owner of the hotel'" "Yes, all four of them in the group." "Ok, sorry, understand this isn't your fault." "It's ok, I know what it's like to work with her" (😔). So, stinky management attitude gets a big thumbs down from us, and we don't think they deserve any custom.
