Excellent hotelComment of B. Sergio , United States the 2016-02-08
My friend and I went to Cancun for 4 nights (Oct 17-21) to celebrate my 30th birthday. We had a blast! The service was amazing. Each restaurant had good food, and we were given VIP status, which allowed us to have a gourmet dinner in our room on the day of my birthday, and that might have been my favorite part of the whole trip. The only negative things I have to say about this place is that 1) our shower was GROSS and had green slimy stuff coming out of all of the different shower heads, and there was about a 12-16" step to get into and out of the shower, and 2) the facility could use some upgrades/painting. Our room could have used more outlets, garbage cans, and housekeeping constantly put the temperature up in our room. Would I return there' Probably not, because I'd like to see other places, but I wouldn't mind staying there again!
"Cons Outweigh Pros"
Pros: the buffet has a variety of options, a majority staff is friendly (even if they don't understand English), hotel has activities to try (I didn't try them); they had other themed restaurants and night shows on site but I did not try them so I can't comment on that. Cons: a majority of the hotel does not have AC; the rooms on the website do not look like the actual rooms, the family rooms on the first floor definitely need an upgrade; a majority of the TV stations are in Spanish; the rooms do not have direct ocean view but if you look past a field of unkept grass you will see the ocean; a majority of the workers only speak Spanish, every hotel has a bible and a pen except this hotel; the water in the toddler area is really cold (you would expect them to have warm water to cater to toddlers), there are no signs in the hotel you have to go on a "seek & find" mission to find what you want or have to ask someone that hopefully speaks English; housekeeping is below par; no refrigerator or microwave were in either of the rooms I stayed in. My Stay: My friend moved twice during our 5 day stay and I moved once. The manager on staff was pretty friendly and helped us to move with ease. Our initial room was on the first floor and there was mold on the mats in the bathroom. We moved to upper floors and the rooms were a bit better, still dated as the first floor but had more space and a better view. Overall: If you are in need a resort that has food but you are more concerned with activities outside of the hotel then you can stay here. If you don't mind staying in a dated hotel then you can stay here. I would not go to this hotel again if I was ever in Cancun. The cons outweigh the pros for me. I would pay the extra & stay somewhere else. PS...bring lots of singles for tips.
"Great time, amazing staff"
This was our first visit to Mexico & booked this hotel on the recommendation of a friend who stayed here a couple of years ago. We had a fabulous time & would definitely look at going back. The food could be a bit hit & miss but there was plenty of choice between the food court & restaurants. Particularly loved "PortoFino" Italian buffet. Staff were great, especially Emiliano, who was our waiter on 2 occasions. All the staff went out their way to help & assist us (one of party was in a wheelchair). Yes, some areas could do with a bit of tlc but it was not a major problem. Any issues we had were dealt with promptly. Had a great time.
"5 star !!!!!"
Hello all, first time doing this so here goes. My family and I spent 9 days at this hotel in October 16. I would highly recommend Cancun as a holiday destination, we loved every minute of the place and there is loads to do. The buses run every 3 seconds transporting you all over the hotel resort plenty of shops and bars should you need it. This is fortunate as the hotel entertainment is poor despite what looks like a lot of effort. We swam with dolphins, rented a car for the day to visit chichen itza to avoid the horrible coach journeys which was brilliant but the highlight for us was the captain cook adventure. The team work effortlessly to deliver an amazing experience. Brilliant! The hotel we stayed at the great Parnassus was clean, ideally located and the staff are great. The pool was nice and the daytime entertainers were really good with the kids. Now for my less positive observations. The place is huge and is poorly organised meaning you will be walking most of the time you are here, the food is ok at best. You get an overwhelming feeling that most of the "restaurants" staff take your order then leg it to the buffet to get your food. The all inclusive drinks are ok but delivered in a child's plastic cup that doesn't scream hygienic and holds 2 gulps of whatever. This should be addressed. There is no mini bar in your "superior deluxe" rooms, nor fridge or coffee making facilities, you cannot get free bottled water from the hotel to keep the kids cool, you can order a glass with cling film on the top but no way to keep it cold in the room as the ice machine doesn't work. There is 24 hours room service - if I had to guess the hotel was at 25% capacity during our trip and the room service took between 30minutes and over an hour to deliver a tray of drinks. I would hate to order morning coffee to sit on your balcony if this place was full. I suspect you would need to order the morning before! When you come bring plenty of cash. Lose a towel card, 100$ lose your wrist band 200$ Lose your safe key 100$ and they will charge it. The room wifi is 15$/night which is nonesense. Don't expect to buy or do anything on the cheap here - everything is expensive 4 tickets to circ de solleil including food 650$ rest assured I am not cheap. Just like value for money. You could do the captain cook experience 10 nights on the Run for this We had a great holiday, held a monkey, Lima, parrot, saw a tarantula and loads of reptiles which the kids loved, there is a lot of creativity here with sculptures and paintings you can try to get home in one piece and despite the intense heat, the locals are happy and friendly. the only downside to our holiday the 2.5 star hotel. Im not intending to put anyone off however I would have liked to know this is nothing like a 5star before arriving. Spa+pool+bar = 5 star in some places. I would Love to take these people to England to show them what 5 star looks like. Oh and as I sit here in the lobby waiting for our transfer to the airport - there is a guy tuning the baby grand which is going to get a child's cup up the back of his favourite head in a minute. Could this not be done off peak'
Fantastic place to stay. Had the most amazing holiday ever. The hotel, the food, the staff, everything was so enjoyable. I would definitely recommend this hotel and return as soon as I can. Thankyou to everyone who made this holiday so wonderful.
