The H10 Itaca hotel rises in the heart of Barcelona, in the refined Eixample district, surrounded by lots of cafés, restaurants and design shops. It is the best starting point where to begin an entertaining tour around Barcelona since it is well connect to the city’s most famous attractions.
Friendly staff & exceptional cleanliness, overall a relaxing stay. A little noisy on the front of the hotel but to be expected as it is situated on a main road. Definitely would recommend this hotel.Comment of S. Joanne , United Kingdom the 2014-05-09
"Very Good Staff, Room Below Par"
I stayed one night in this hotel for my birthday and the website I booked it through stated the hotel was 4 stars. Although the staff were extremely friendly, helpful, and kind (Cava on arrival, I got sent two cakes to my room as a surprise for my birthday, and we also checked out 30 minutes late the next day without any extra charge and greeted by smiling staff in the foyer) the hotel decor was not what I would have expected for a 4 star hotel. The rooms are small and dingy, and mine had fake wooden floors with scuffs and damage. There was a small amount of grime in the bathroom and the decor was quite outdated. Plus there is no view from the front of the hotel. Not a disappointing experience but definitely a slightly disappointing room. I did however get my room for a very reasonable price. Pros and cons, however I do think I would stay there again based on what you get for the price, but I would say it was below par for 4 stars
"A good hotel, but I was disappointed."
I chose this hotel over others with better locations and better prices because I was traveling with my teenage daughter who loves to swim. I also really liked the idea of soaking in the jacuzzi after walking around all day. It turned out the the entire pool area was dug up, and the jacuzzi was "closed for maintenance." It looked like it had been closed for for months already. I really wish hotels would update their websites when features the advertise are not available. The room itself was nice and clean, but there didn't seem to be much soundproofing, and teabags from the complimentary coffee and tea were not replaced. Breakfast was 15 euros per person, so we didn't try it. The staff were helpful, and there were no problems communicating. The hotel is just a few blocks from a major train and subway station, so it's pretty convenient if that's how you're getting around, but otherwise it's in a part of town that is not particularly interesting, and it's pretty far from the sights.
"Not central, but great value"
We recently stayed at H10 Itaca for five days over New Year. Our whole stay went well, from the moment we arrived, until our departure. We had no language problems with any staff. On NYE the hotel gave us small packs of 12 grapes, so that we could join in the tradition of eating them one by one as the big clock at plac Espanya struck 12. Even though the hotel is not in the centre of town, it is very close to the Metro and tickets cost only 1 euro flat fare, (if you buy the book of 10 tickets- otherwise its 2 euro per trip), so it's cheap to get around. We bought the three day travel pass, for 29 euro I think, but in retrospect, as the metro only costs 1 euro per trip, it would have been better to buy the book of ten tickets. I thought breakfast was great- although the women in charge is a bit of a tyrant, (sharp and bossy!) The scrambled eggs were as good as any made from cage farm eggs. The variety was huge- yoghurt, pineapple, melon, croissants, pastries, breads, cold meats, cheeses, boiled eggs, and then hot bacon, sausages, tomatoes. There was Cava on ice, (Spanish sparkling wine), and both Nespresso, and regular coffee. We had a long enjoyable breakfast every morning of our stay. Our room was fine. Comfortable bed, enough space to open two suitcases, sitting chair and foot stool, Nespresso machine, ironing board. Robes and slippers were provided. Bathroom was stone and was very clean. Check out was straightforward, and even though our bill was complicated, there were no errors. Overall, great value for money.
"A nice hotel"
We visited this hotel as a couple and found this to be a pleasant break, the room was small yet cosy and had a modern feel. We took advantage of the room service and found this to be of excellent value and excellent quality. However, the breakfast we experienced was very poor and did not cater for non nationals as there was not enough variety, we only had breakfast the first day because of this. The wifi was fast and we experienced no problems with this, there was only two english tv channels, however this did not matter as we didnt need it. Overall, we enjoyed the hotel but if we were to come back to Barcelona we probably would book closer to the main centre as it was very residential around the hotel.
"Generally a good hotel"
The hotel staff greeted us and were very accommodating with all of our questions. The room was good, shower etc. too. The location is great for being near the train station but not to being that close to the major attractions. But it's a large city to get around - I recommend the hop-on/hop-off bus tours. My only complaint was the breakfast. While there was plenty to choose from the scrambled eggs didn't resemble eggs at all - very watery. And the cereal choices were for children! No high fiber/low-sugar cereals. However, the coffee was amazing - Nespresso my favourite!!
