"Not impressed "
Room very tired and in desperate need of modernising, shower screen opened inwards towards taps so had to stand in the bath to turn the taps on! Mould in bathroom and beds totally uncomfortable. Also generator outside room so noisy all night . Don't waste your money !
"Comfortable, great location"
Stayed 4 nights for business. King bed was comfortable - rooms compact but functional. Breakfast and other meals were excellent. Staff friendly and helpful. Across street from Chester train station. Approx 40 min drive from Manchester airport. Chester is a lovely city.
Just back from a lovely stay here. All of the staff were friendly and helpful. Room was very nicely decorated. Bed was extremely comfortable. Great location just across the road from the train station and a short walk into town Highly recommended.
"Good family friendly hotel"
Stayed at the hotel for 4 nights with my wife and 15 month old daughter in a family room, the room it self was huge super king size bed, a king size bed and a single. The single was quite firm, the king size was as softer than a down duvet and the super king was nice and firm, plenty of room left over for travel cot. The tv in the room was dated and a bit small for the size of room, but it showed Peppa Pig, Ben and hollys little kingdom just fine, there was a DVD player in there as well but it wasn't connected or couldn't a see a remote, but not having dvds this wasn't an issue. The electric plug situation was a bit annoying to be honest, there was a plug by the t.v, two at the desk and one near the wardrobe, so to charge your phone it had to be away from the bed side cabinet. Solved this by charging power bank during the day and charging the phone from it by the side of the bed. Bathroom was basic but fine, only real issue that I had (being 6' 3") was the shower and screen. The shower head when standing in the bath was at chin level and the screen was about the same, so when you shower the water hits your shoulders and sprays up over the screen soaking the bathroom floor, hence having to shower kneeling down. However this is a problem i find in a lot of hotels and won't effect a lot of people. Water pressure was good and the hot water was easily over the 60 degree legionella regulations. One the first night we decided to order room service so rang down to order and was told that what we wanted wasn't on the room service menu, double checked the website and it says that all menu's are avaible to order room service but this wasn't the case. One the third night we ate in the waiting room resturant and again the menu was different to what was online and double checking the menu was still the "great western" menu and not the hallmark menu. The breakfasts were really nice and bountiful I will admit to making a pig of myself every morning and stuffing my face, the breakfast lasted us until tea time. The was an indecent of attempted toast thievery one morning tho, it was annoying to have my daughters toast nearly stolen by someone who couldn't be bothered to wait for his own toast to go along the conveyer. The staff were really friendly and polite and really did bend over to help us. There was a lot of building referb work going on and builders carrying in materials and removing rubbish I'm not sure if the hotel told them that guest come first and be extremely polite and let them use the lifts first, etc but the work men were so polite and kept calling me sir and getting out of the lift for us to use, they were a real credit to the hotel. The car park if good and very handy and access to the wheel chair or push chair entrance can be made through the car park and not the front enterance by the station, to pay for parking (£10 for 24 hours) can be done by either over the phone or download an app, well I didn't want to either of those so between us we found £10 in change to go into the machine. The next morning I went to reception with £10 and asked for change for parking and she said just tell me your reg and I can add it to your room bill, not on any sign anywhere in the car park does it say this, but it was a relief that you could. The parking situation is the reason why I've only given it 4 instead of 5 rating, if your paying over £100 a night for a room parking should be included. Over all the stay was really nice, looked after by the staff, no problems with the rooms, nice central location, easy access to the x8 bus stop for the outlet village, zoo and aquarium. Would not hesitate to stay there again.
"Another great stay"
Stopped at this lovely hotel a few times before, but this time our room was in the Kings Quarters. These rooms are large modern with a great and amazingly comfortable king sized bed. We ate in the Kings Grill and as usual the food was excellent, a special thank you to Oona who was great. breakfast was plentiful. All the hotel staff from reception to the Waiting Room bar were great and made our stay really special.
