Stayed here on a 1 night groupon offer in a queen executive room. The room was lovely. Bed exceedingly comfortable. The bathroom was quite big and the only downside was that it was really cold in there. Due to the old building and heritage there was no double glazing and there was no secondary glazing in there and only a small heated towel rail. Other than that I could not fault it and will certainly return.
"Great hotel Next to Train Station"
We were travelling by train to meet family so the fact that this hotel is across a quiet street from the station was so convenient and meant no need for taxis. The refurbishment of the hotel is so well done, all the accommodation is in a separate building with beautiful courtyards and enclosed walkways connecting it to the original hotel. We had a twin room which was very spacious with windows that opened, a full bath, separate walk in shower and was very quiet. Buffet breakfast in the dining room offered everything you could possibly want and was delicious.
"Really comfortable stay, great location for station and links into Chester"
Rooms are very comfortable and have all the basic amenities you would expect. Decor is interesting and unique throughout the hotel. It's a genuinely nice place to be and doesn't feel sterile or too elaborate as is what can happen with some other hotels. Pricing is very decent. Would definitely recommend the breakfast options in the morning.
"Excellent weekend break"
We had a brilliant overhight stay last Saturday. The welcome to the hotel stood out. The reception staff were very friendly and helpul. The concierge was amazing throughout the stay. The room was on the 3rd floor and continued the atmopsheric feel of the place. There was free wifi (decent speed too) in the rooms. The bathroom was spotless. The grounds of the hotel are very impressive. Th ehotel is right outside th etrain station. It took about 10 minutes to walk into the shops and city centre (helpful directions from the concierge) and there was a market right outside the hotel (Saturday afternoon). Breakfast on Sunday was very impressive with live music playing 'hangover music' :). Car parking was £15 for 24 hours but is right alongside an NCP car park that costs £6.50
Staff in particular were welcoming and friendly. We stayed in one of the refurbished rooms which were great. The main thing about our stay was that it was great value. We stayed for 2 nights in April and paid £235 for three adults in a family room. This included dinner on the first night, which was very good and breakfast each morning. We also had a cream tea on arrival included. My concern would be staying in the summer months as the rooms do not appear to have air conditioning. We slept with the window open and it was a little noisy at early hours of the morning. Air con would tackle this issue.
