"Very expensive for what it offers"
Firstly, I found very strange that in the room there were a mormon's book and a bible in the nigt table. I find almost inappropriate in a wellknown hotel to find religius books. Secondly, the decoration was oldfashioned. Thirdly, the price fot a weekend was unbelievable. For sure this hotel should not offer a price like that. The location is a big plus.
"Not a five star!"
I just stayed in marriott hamburg for a night with my wife and a couple of friends. In terms of beauty and service, it is not a five star at all. Good: location is perfect - check in is smooth and quick- staff are polite Bad: it is old- no one to carry your bags- rooms are not well designed and hard to heat-no sleepers in room-minibar is empty- bar options are limited- no free wifi in room Overall: it is good for one night stay in the heart of the city but if you are not expecting a five star hotel
"Highly Recommended - Charming and relaxing"
This is a large, beautiful, elegant and modern luxurious hotel. The atmosphere is very relaxing and enjoyable. The room and bathroom were very spacious and elegant with a modern touch. The room was absolutely great: it was large, clean, comfortable, convenient and quiet. And we enjoyed the great view we had of the street with the nice shops. The room had a small fridge which was very convenient. The Sleep quality was very good. Breakfast at the restaurant was delicious with a lot of variety and options. In fact there were so many options it was hard to decide what to start eating first. Everything was fresh and tasty. The hotel location is absolutely amazing. It is located in a lovely area and close to so many places so it is very convenient to tour Hamburg from here but it is also close to an impressive shopping area. We walked everywhere, whether walking to the hotel from the main train station (Hamburg Hbf) or walking from the hotel to the Town Hall (Hamburg Rathaus) or even walking to the Miniatur Wunderland, these were easy and very enjoyable walks anywhere. The customer service was fantastic. The staff were very nice, friendly and helpful. Especially worth mentioning were 2 representatives at the front desk, Lars and Mai. They made the check-in process easy and informative and throughout our stay they continually provided helpful information and great customer service. They really exemplified what real customer service should be and we greatly appreciated it. I cannot imagine staying anywhere else in Hamburg other than here at this hotel, it has just become one of my favorite hotels. We really enjoyed our stay here and we will be back.
"Need advice on tours'"
If you have never been to the city and you want advice on good tours to take....don't ask the concierge!!! We asked them at front desk, they said "he was out shopping for a guest, and would be back in about 20 minutes!" But the nice girl suggested the Hop on Hop off bus but it would be cheaper to get tickets here. So we said we'd be back when concierge was back. 20 minutes later we went back to the desk, he was back. We asked him for best tours since we will only be here today and tomorrow. He suggested the Hop on Hop off.... showed us a map and marked the directions to get to the bus. Never offered us to get the tickets here or direct us out the door, 4 miles of walking and a taxi ride back to hotel...no tour, didn't tell us we needed cash, and no banks would do exchange. Big lesson-exchange your currency prior to arriving and don't rely on the "concierge " to help you! So disappointed.
A one night stay. Location good, very central with shops on your doorstep. Rooms stink of detergent. Horrible views if you're facing the back of the hotel. A bottle of water is €7.90..... I suppose it is because it's Italian water!!!! Good job I'm getting Marriott reward points!!!
