I stayed in this hotel for 5 nights recently, and found it to be pretty good. The hotel's best feature is its location: it's a 5 to 15 minute walk from most locations in central Hamburg, and only five minutes from the nearest station on the train line to the airport. The breakfast was also very good, and my deluxe room (the cheapest of the categories) was large and comfortable. The room service and bar were also decent, with portion sizes being generous. On the down side, I found the hotel to be rather over-heated and this made sleeping uncomfortable until I figured out the solution is to leave the window open until you go to bed and not turn the heating on. While it's fairly easy to avoid the hotel's charge for internet use (and the connection is pretty fast), it's ridiculous that this is even an issue given that 2 star hotels routinely provide free wifi with no complications.
"Is the location enough..."
Overall a pleasant stay. Staff were friendly and helpful but the hotel, whilst having a homely feel, the rooms and corridors could do with a refresh. Service in the restaurant was very attentive. However, breakfast was a bit chaotic with people trying to find seats. For a hotel of this standard I would have expected a better gym.
"Amazing location and superior service"
I stayed in Marriott Hamburg for the first time and I liked it. The location in heart of Hamburg financial district near a lot of shopping center and restaurants to eat. The hotel facilities were amazing the breakfast was the best. Friendly and helpful staff. I enjoyed my time there and definitely I'll repeat whenever I visit Hamburg.
"Good location, nice lobby and breakfast"
This is typical Marriott, so one usually knows the standard. The lobby, bar and breakfast/lunch area are very nice and welcoming, especially breakfast was lovely with the beautiful buffet display and unlike Germany served till 11am. We loved the piano music at night, THANK YOU MR. PIANO MAN. You made Hamburg very special for us. We also enjoyed the pool area, but it does need some TLC. The strange flooring inside the pool, some sort of plastic-rubber covering felt rather disgusting. Service was nice and friendly. BUT: The hotel has recently had a facelift and I am not sure I agree, as the rooms are rather depressing now. The overall feel, once you take the elevator up, is more like a 2* or hostel. The materials used in the bedroom are very plastic, the bathroom is outdated and the garbage bin was a black plastic bin, which annoyed me terribly. (Cause even good hostels have better bins today) There is also a problem with the keycards. THEY NEVER WORKED. No matter if the card was next to a phone or not, every time we got back to our room, we had to return to the lobby to reprogram the keys. Bit annoying... Oh, location is AMAZING!
"Good hotel, terrible room service food."
Hotel location is perfect! Rooms are spacious, bathroom is OK. Breakfast is good but very busy. Hotel has parking service. Wifi cost 10,- or 12,- a day, which is in my opinion ridiculous and not from this time. We ordered Room service pasta & ceaser salad. Worse pasta ever eaten, no taste and could almost swim in it...
