I booked the Harbour Grand Hong Kong about four months prior to my arrival in Hong Kong. I was not disappointed. The accommodations were outstanding. The rooms were large and decorated quite nicely.I had booked the "Premiere room with a view". It overlooked the bay between Hong Kong Island and Kowloon Island. It was a terrific view of Kowloon. The hotel is conveniently situated about a 2 to 5 minute walk to the MTR. And the surrounding neighborhood is full of local shops and restaurants. Taxi service is available, too. The hotel provides a free shuttle to Causeway Bay- it stops at the World Trade Center. The staff is very professional. They are always concerned with the needs of their guests. I highly recommend this hotel to travels.
"Great hotel, great location"
We spent two nights here before a cruise and were very pleased. Room and service were outstanding and hotel made our anniversary celebration memorable. Concierge service was top notch. Breakfast buffet was extensive and reasonably priced Only negative was fitness centre had a lack of available treadmills and upright bicycle was broken
"Unfortunately spoiled by surrounding construction and building sites."
We were placed here by tour company and from photos and on paper things looked reasonable. Although from map it was clear it was in an out of the way location, well east of Victoria Island's CBD. We were advised the swimming pool was out of action, and accepted this, but not abvised an associated dining option was also closed. What we didn't know was that the hotel was situated at harbour edge, with highway to north side of hotel undergoing reconstruction. On east were two blocks of high rise building site and to south another block of construction. Apart from a misty view across water to Kowloon, our view was of steel erections and cranes. Staying on 23d floor we were still woken by sounds of drills and hammers from early until late. We stayed three nights mid-week perhaps noise wouldn't have been noticeable over a weekend or if room higher up. Lobby is grand and check in swift with friendly staff wish the rooms could have been better. Tired heavy room furnishings and decor with a musty smell in corridor outside. All unfortunately go to spoil what could and should be a much nicer hotel. Give it six months and if surrounding building sites gone might improve a little.
"Only if you like huge hotels!"
We choose this hotel as a we did not want to spend much on a one night's stop coming from Bali going back to London. In hindsight I would have payed the difference for a more centrally located and upmarket hotel. This hotel is in an area you would normally not go to when on holiday, there is nothing special to see and not very pretty. The hotel is huge and rather cheap looking, lots of shiny brass and marble but not in a good way. Dining and breakfast area looks tired and dated but the view over the water is beautiful. Club room looks okay but no different from an airport lounge, they served good snack and teas though. harbour view club room looked quiet big and nice looking at the pictures but was not in reality. Dated design and old bathroom. Next time if I wanted to stay in a four star hotel I would rather choose a small boutique hotel in a central area, this was in my taste too impersonal.
"Very comfortable hotel in good location"
First time visit in Hong Kong and travel agent recommended this hotel on Kowloon We had a Club room with wonderful view of harbour. This also gave us complimentary breakfast, afternoon tea and drinks early evening. We ate in the Chinese restaurant one night and enjoyed our meal but service was very slow although it wasn't busy. The hotel is very grand as the name suggests but also room was very quiet. Staff are pleasant enough. However if you have no money to tip when luggage is delivered, staff will show some displeasure! Hotel is ideally situated to explore more local areas of Hong Kong but the regular shuttle bus takes you downtown where you can link into the MTR and Star Ferry to Hong Kong Island. We would recommend this hotel.
