My wife and two boys travelled here from Manchester and stayed for four nights before heading to Bali for a vacation. The hotel is in a good location in Kowloon; Wampoa station is but a short walk away which will provide you access to all the tourist attractions and there is also a free and regular shuttle to TST should you wish to take the Star Ferry. We found the room to be ample for our needs. It was cleaned daily and stocked with English Breakfast tea bags and milk - a must for us Brits! The hotel had a gym which my wife used and said it was well equipped. The rooftop pool was fantastic and offered breath-taking views of the harbour. My boys (7 and 3) loved swimming while taking in the views. I thought the staff were very friendly, opening the main doors upon arrival and always acknowledging you with a nod or smile. A special mention must go to Queenie who remarkably remembered my name and would always say "good morning, Mr Moon" which, considering how busy the hotel is, was attentive and remarkable. Little details like that mean a lot. Queenie provided us with umbrellas on a day rain was forecast and advised us with any queries we had. Overall a great stay - I would recommend this hotel!
we arrived at harbour grand around 5 pm to find although staying in club room that our allocated room was still occupied as previous guest was ill... we would need to wait!!! not impressed however offered us a room to which we could refresh still on club level as we had booked....took some convincing to let us just have that room... club lounge did get a bit crowded with no view and snacks got a bit repetative and took a while to be replenished, breakfast was cramped so asked to eat in main restuarant first which was very busy but options were greater....rooms we had were spacious and clean with great views however were disturbed with the gym above us and users dropping weights and running on treadmills.... located in whampoa with quick and easy access to station and shops. the shuttle bus operating every 20 mins to down town was a great and very useful service staff were all excellent and helpful
We spent a couple of days in HK before going further afield. As a family of 4 we stayed in the Captain Suite, which gave us access to the Executive Lounge. Although we had to pay more to get an extra bed made up in the Suite, and to pay extra for the lounge access - it was definitely worth it. Having light nibbles after a long flight and confused body clock was exactly what we all needed to get back on our feet. Come the end of the day, it was a good place to unwind too. The rooftop pool is a must with great views over the harbour. The water was very cold, so any swimming was limited to a short time. Perhaps heat the pool for a little longer in the season' When returning to HK we would definitely stay at the same hotel. The children loved the VIK passport programme, collecting different stickers etc, and all of the staff were very friendly to them (us).
"Awesome 5 star hotel with great views"
Getting to the Harbour Grand from the airport can't be simpler with the train to Kowloon then a free shuttle straight to it. Great area and friendly staff as to be expected from a large 5 star hotel. We got upgraded to a suit which was nice with fantastic views of Hong Kong Island and the harbour. I booked through CTrip which was fine though a bit confusing upon check in as I had to pay again and wait for a refund for the initial payment after our stay. Never done that before. I also booked a table at 188o restaurant that I thought was at the hotel but was actually at the Harbour Grand Kong, across the bay, so I changed it to the Harbour Grill which was in out hotel. Website was a little confusing. The room was lovely, amazing view and lots of space, though some things in the room where a little tired, like the air con temperature knob that fell off and the tv menu that was not clear, but there were staff readily at hand to sort any issues out. I'm glad the room was as nice as I'd hoped because I proposed to my girlfriend on the first night. She said yes. Breakfast was excellent too. Overall we had a fantastic stay at Harbour Grand, totally recommended to for something special when in Hong Kong.
"Disapointed room with Club Lounge"
We stayed at the Harbour Grand in Kowloon in April 2017. We had booked a Club room despite a 2pm check in our room and not arriving until 3.30pm was not ready till almost 4pm. No big deal but one of the reasons for not being ready was that it was being inspected for cleanliness. On entering the room we found that one wall had many red stains on it which was disgusting. On advising reception house keeping was very efficient in coming to the room and removing most but not all of the stain. The room itself was very spacious with a great view of the harbour. After this incident our room was kept spotless and the cleaning lady was just a delight. On the second day we returned to our room while the cleaning lady was making up the room. We were very impressed when she confirmed we were the room occupants and not some thief. Well done. We were not so impressed with the Harbour club. We were not advised of how the club room operated and were very disapointed to see how cramped the seating was. For the first half hour we waited to be served drinks only to find out it was self service which is the first time in any club area we have had to serve ourselves. Once again no big deal but please advise guests of how the club room operates. The Harbour Club room is in name only. The only view is of the blue window and construction of the building next door. Its not really conducive to relaxtion and compared to the foyer and downstairs cafe and dining area not very impressive. On one occasoin we went for breakfast only to walk away as the club room was full and not seating was available. We observed this happen on more than one occasion when other guests came for breakfast or Cocktails and were either forced to line up or walk away. On several occasions food trays were empty and not replenished. During the cocktail hours of 6pm to 8pm food ran out at 7.15pm and was not replaced on one occasion. Seriously this is not the actions and service of a five star hotel. Disappointing, the breakfast menu which was not large and did not change for the six day we were there and there was no facility/chef available in this area for different egg choices. People have paid a premium for club rooms but are not getting the benefits they paid for. The saving grace for your Harbour Club were Chase, Aurelie and Lilian. What wonderful people who made every attempt to make our stay enjoyable. While the pool was in a great location, it was tired and in need of some serious work. No shade other than some umbrellas on the bottome deck, No cushions on any of the seats or lounges on the bottom or pool deck which we found very uncomfortable. Clearly these seats were designed for cushions but none were sighted. The hotel is not in the centre of town but we found this was not an issue with the hotel running a shuttle bus every 20 minutes into town we took advantage of several times. The district of Whampoa is only very short stroll to many eateries. The train is here as well and is very easy and cheap to use. Overall while we were happy with our room and the location of the hotel we were untlimately disapointed with the club access. To us it was not worth the extra money we paid and would not consider a club room again at this hotel. In fact of all the hotels we have stayed in over the years, the Harbour Club was the worst club we have ever experienced.
