"Overall a good place to stay"
The hotel was very accommodating to our request to check-in early allowing us access to our room at 10:30 am. The rooms are clean and comfortable but a little small - especially the bathroom. The hotel is located in Quarry Bay almost at the Eastern end of HK Island but is convenient to the MTR and tram. The hotel also provides a free shuttle bus to Central. Some rooms have views (or glimpses) of the harbour. Make sure to take up the Happy Hour offer for drinks in the lobby and enjoy the band. Avoid the coffee (all options taste wierd) and the breakfast buffet (@ HKD78 it's robbery).
"At most average"
The rooms are outdated, the style is old. Service is ok. Breakfast is not great as well. Overall it needs a new look. There are a few restaurants and shops around, but for everything else you need to get transport. There is a complimantary shuttle bus to some shopping centers.
"Quality hotel which ticks most boxes"
The hotel's reception staff were great when we arrived, tired from our flights from the UK. They also provided a complimentary bottle of wine in our room. Our tariff came with WiFi and I read complaints before arrival that this was costly if not bought at outset. Nice big luxurious rooms as you would expect being further out at North Point and all in all this is a very nice hotel that gives very good value for money. Didn't eat in the hotel as there were a lot of good local restaurants and some coffee shop chains if that is your requirement. The gym was very small but adequate, with enough machines to do a good workout. Only downside was the 25m outdoor pool was only in the sun for a very limited time, so sun worshipers should stay elsewhere, as it is surrounded by skyscrapers on all sides. Quarry Bay MTR station is right across the main road about 150 metres away and is so handy for getting into Central and other destinations. However, because it is further out it takes a lot longer to get around in contrast to when I was staying at Causeway Bay on another visit to HK. The difference in distance grated after a while, as we used the MTR often during the day and in the evening to get to and from out hotel. The trams run right outside and it is very easy and cheap (HK$2.40 each way) to get to Central and Happy Valley, although the journey will take about 30 minutes. All in all a very good, welcoming and lower end luxury hotel, which is good bang for your buck.
Staff all very nice, pool on the 12 floor we had an upgrade but didn't seem like it, all very tired. Not a bad location really in need of a facelift. Very handy for the tram especially on free travel Tuesday'!
We were a group of 4 friends and we stayed in 2 twin sharing rooms on the 10 floor for 4 nights. We had a harbour view partially blocked by 2 buildings but nonetheless. On a fine day we even saw sails passing by! It is very convenient as the subway is only across the road and we had the chance to take the century old Dingding tram back to the hotel. The rooms were clean and quiet. Comfortable beds too we had restful nights after much daily shopping! The only complaint is free wifi is only available in the lobby and only for a measly 30mins. Of course this is the hotel choice to generate more income (HKD70 for per day usage in the room). In the end i bought a 3-day mobile data SIM card for HKD48 from the nearest 7-11, not only much cheaper but made more sense since i was out most of the time!
