"Location and Design"
If you are coming to Chicago to explore, this is a great location to do so. Great design highlighted by interesting art and a comfortable room. Our only complaint' Does everyone on staff have to have a Faux Hawk' You can be too cool you know
I stayed here with a large group and was quite impressed with the hotel and its location. The building that the Hard Rock is in, the Carbide and Carbon building is absolutely stunning. They've done their best to preserve certain aspects inside and the exterior remains true to its original form. Chicago is a city full of beautiful architecture and staying in such an iconic building is a treat. The hotel has been renovated to fit with the Hard Rock theme. It's really quite cool, each floor has a different artist and piece of memorabilia. Further, the rooms are outfitted with artwork of rock legends. The rooms themselves are pretty standard. I will note that they foyer to the rooms are quite dark for purposes of getting dressed. However the rooms are a good size and clean. The bathroom we had was a little rundown. A tile was cracked and the shower head left a lot to be desired. But again, it was clean. The staff were friendly for the most part. I wasn't entirely overly impressed with the staff but they certainly did their jobs. The location was fantastic. You're pretty much at the River and the magnificent mile and a 5 minute walk to CloudGate. I couldn't ask for a better location if I tried and for this reason alone I'd stay here again in Chicago. Overall, it was a very good experience and I'd suggest it to anyone who puts location at the top of their wish-list.
"Entertainment value for a stay here "
The art throughout is all about music. We were here for work meetings and they can easily handle large groups. Comfortable beds. Decent sized rooms. I may have lucked out with a corner room with views. Gym had about a dozen cardio machines. Go before any peak times. Only wish the shower head wasn't so basic. Seemed the one thing they skimped on.
Step outside and you are on Michigan avenue. Can't beat the location and all of the amazing restaurants and attractions that downtown Chicago has to offer. I would agree that the hotel could use a facelift in the rooms. They were a bit dated and run down. The theme of the hotel is fun and the music is good. Ping pong in the lobby' I'm in! Great idea. The workout center is awesome. Really impressive. Overall, it was a nice hotel that I would stay at again. Keep in mind the hotel has no parking but there is a ton of parking nearby. I paid $42 for overnight. The hotel does valet for $65.
It was my first time to stay in Hard rock hotel chain. Pictures of rock stars are everywhere. The room is nice and hip. The magazine in the room was Rollingstone, There are many many rock stars' memorabilia. if you want to feel "Rock", this is the place. Talking about the usual stay experience, the room is huge and clean. nothing to complain. It was quiet. i heard wind blowing in the night, that is Chicago experience. The location is the center of the downtown. you can easily walk to the lake. The staff is nice and friendly.
