"Beautiful hotel in perfect location but some small details missing"
We stayed for three days during the mid/end of November. The hotel entrance and lobby is quite beautiful in terms of decoration and set up. The gym was one of the best gyms I have ever seen at a hotel in terms of both the equipment and views. There were also group fitness classes scheduled throughout the day. The pool was indoors with separate steam rooms for men and women. I did not try the spa services but the looked fantastic and seemed reasonably priced. The service was good, but nothing above what you would expect from a hotel of this caliber. In terms of specifics: The lunch/lobby restaurant was crowded and the service a bit slow. One aspect of the stay that was extremely disappointing was the dinner at the hotel's restaurant. I will review that separately but since it is part of the hotel and was recommended by the receptionist and the concierge, it affected views of the hotel stay. Missing from the rooms are irons/ironing boards (you can pay to have the staff do that for you), coffee / tea, and water. The wifi was spotty and worked only in the rooms. I
We boarded a cruise in Monte Carlo in mid November and booked The Hermitage for the night before. This period, classic hotel definitely has the Wow factor. Impressive both inside and out, it oozes quality. Service at reception was exceptionally good - smooth and professional. We were shown to our room - upgraded to a Superior double (room 660) which offered a glimpse of the marina from two juliette-style balcony windows. Huge bed and gorgeous bathroom. Fully equipped and serviced with minibar (not complimentary), WiFi, huge TV, excellent wardrobe space. Quality bathroom products. As this was a special wedding anniversary, the hotel kindly delivered a splendid cake to our room. We booked the hotel's Vistamar restaurant - which was quirky but interesting. Limited menu but food was of a high standard and beautifully presented. Service excellent. Breakfast was taken in the dome of the winter garden - location and food were outstanding. Situated just around the corner from the Casino - everything in Monte Carlo is within walking distance. An early morning stroll around the Grand Prix street circuit is recommended. Overall, a spectacular hotel with old-fashioned, high quality service. Downsides' Well, pricing isn't budget - but our room including breakfast (normally £37pp alone) was £260 which overall we considered excellent value. The Vistamar is expensive - as are pre-dinner cocktails - but for a special occasion this is a fabulous hotel. We will definitely stay again and are happy to recommend.
"A truly amazing experience !"
I have to be honest: I love excellent hotels, and I'm always looking for something that I haven't seen before. Now that's tough if you have stayed at the best hotels in the world. But the attention to detail and luxury at the Hermitage make everyone's stay worthwhile. And the view - don't even get me started! The terrace overlooking the harbor has the best view in Monaco bar none. Even the most distinguished and spoiled world traveller who gets the red carpet rolled out for him or her won't be disappointed here ! 5 stars.
"Pretty poor experience overall"
For a 5* hotel, it is pretty grubby and run down, with scuffed walls and chipped paint in the corridors and rooms. Not well maintained. Room was not perfectly clean e.g. hairs on the floor. To get to the spa you need to go via the lobby, so you have people in their bath robes walking around the lobby of the hotel - not so elegant. The room service continental breakfast is stingy - the menu describes "a selection of Viennese pastries" but if you see my photo this entails ONE soggy pain aux raisin - not sure if the croissant and brioche count as "Viennese pastries" but for a luxury hotel in the south of France it was totally pathetic (see photos). Worst of all, the hotel double charged me for the room. Trying to get their customer service team to help is like extracting water from a stone, not proactive, it seems they don't care. The response I got was "I have a look into this matter and confirm you pretty soon" and that was a week ago. It looks like I will have no choice but to initiate a chargeback with my card company. Nobody asked how my stay was when I checked out. Next time I will stay at the Grand-Hotel du Cap-Ferrat where the service has more charm.
"Elegant, classical Hotel - Must stay"
If you are visiting Monaco this is a must stay. The hotel is gorgeous, the interior design is incredibly elegant and modern. The hotel is walking distance from the casino and Palace. You have access to the beach club and casino, as well as a fitness centre. We visited for my birthday and the hotel kindly upgraded our room, The room was spacious, clean and well equipped. The staff were really helpful, and informative. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Monte Carlo.
