"Large Big Chain Hotel, comes up huge with Personalized Service"
Blown away by how "personalized" the service provided by staff for such a large Chain. Each day Eduardo greeted us with familiarity of long time friends. He promised he would arrange for a good driver & DELIVERED WITH AN EXCELLENT ONE. He kindly provided us with Beach size towels & double bottles of water. Upon return we were greeted with equal enthusiasm by Fabio who patiently kept door open while drivers CC machine had issues. He guided us to the Hotel ATM & returned to auto with us until payment consummated. The lounge was bused by smiling accommodating hostesses & the "personal" service made you feel you were at a small hotel. They must have "Cherry Picked" the best of the best in their interviews. All staff were consistently friendly & "Personable". If you like Contemporary Modern design, this hotel is a Jack Pot from reception, work out area, pool & your own room. Room included a replica painting encased in mood lighting & signed by the artist. A surprise delight Hilton Barra RDJ. Your earned this unsolicited review.
"Great Rio Hotel!"
We stayed here as we explored Rio. It was not in the main areas of Rio and this suited us perfectly! It is outside the main tourist sites and you have to plan a trip into the main sections of Rio. The hotel is very clean, and has a beautiful pool area to spend some relaxing 'off time' at. We utilized the hospitality suite level and this was an excellent option because of the people we got to meet as we enjoyed some drinks and treats at the end of our day exploring. We would not hesitate to recommend this hotel when staying in Rio!
"Best Concierge ever!!!"
We had never been to Rio De Janeiro and chose this hotel due to other TripAdvisor reviews and I'm so glad I did. The concierge Clayson was top notch and returned emails promptly and even called to talk and raise our comfort level. so friendly and helpful in everything we asked about. It was further from the city and airport than I would have originally liked but the sent a car to pick us up and return us to the airport. The rooms were great and the executive lounge with happy hour was wonderful to arrive to. We walked across the street to a beautiful Mall for food and shopping and felt safe everywhere. Everyone was so friendly and helpful and made our experience a memorable one. Thank You so much Clayson and Hilton Barra Rio De Janeiro!!!
"Nice hotel, but some niggling issues made our stay less and satisfactory"
This is a lovely hotel, but there were a few issues during our stay. First of all, although this hotel is currently the #1 rated hotel in Rio, if you are looking for the buzz the city, let’s be clear, this is not the Rio you picture. This is Barra, which is a good few miles from the beaches of Copacabana, Sugar Loaf and the like. There is nothing here except the Olympic village and a nice shopping mall. So, first of all the positives. It’s beautiful, and clean. The pool is gorgeous as is the view from it. The niggling issues: When we checked in we were immediately told that if we wanted something to eat we would have to eat at the bar as the restaurant was fully booked (24 December). We booked the hotel months ago, so I thought they could have at least reserved a table for us' No. So, Christmas eve we had to sit at a bar. The food' Awful. We complained about it, and the F & B Manager came over and apologised and arranged for it to be taken away. He then appeared with some snacks the chef had made as way of apology. They too were very poor, and we sent them back. Granted, the meal was wiped from the bill, however when we signed for our wine the staff had added an extra bottle onto it. Again, the F & B Manager arrived, apologised, and wiped the bill clean. Breakfast. We had four breakfasts in total over the 2 nights, however we were charged for six. A rather unfriendly Albuquerque (receptionist) amended the bill on check-out. Nespresso machines in the rooms are a nice touch, however to have to pay for the water to actually enjoy one is outrageous. The beds are hard. The water pressure is poor. Housekeeping staff do not know the meaning of a "do not disturb" sign. On both mornings, despite the notice being on the door, the staff knocked on the door, looking to clean the room. All in all, our stay was a little disappointing.
"Nice hotel in Rio suburbs"
This is a nice, brand new hotel in the suburbs of Rio that was clearly opened for the Olympics last summer. I stayed here after staying 2 nights in Copacabana. While it is a very nice property, I am not sure why it's ranked the #1 hotel in Rio on TripAdvisor because it's so far from everything (Copacabana, Ipanema, Leblon, Christ the Redeemer, Sugarloaf to name a few). However, I can understand how a suburban environment would be appealing to some visitors. The hotel is very close to Olympic Park (now closed) and the biggest mall in Latam: Barre Shopping. Definitely check it out, it's fascinating to explore. The check-in process is rather long, as the front desk agents are very friendly and seem to double as concierge. I waited about 6 -7 minutes, while the couple ahead of me was checking in; that's a long time for a guest check-in. Non-elite members have to actually fill out paperwork with a pen & paper to complete their check-in; how analog! The executive lounge is the most spacious I've seen among Hiltons, which is a definite pro. Additionally, the new spa (which is really just re-purposing guest rooms on the 8th floor) is a nice touch. Can't comment on the restaurant or pool, did not use them. Overall, I would recommend this hotel if you do not mind being 30-45 mins away from Rio's main sights. It's kind of like booking a NYC hotel in Queens when everything you want to do is in Manhattan -- it has its own sights and charm, but you have to travel to the main tourist spots.
