"Smelt of smoking badly although the room was clean"
The hotel itself was very nice and the room was massive! The only thing that was really disappointing was that it smelt of smoking badly although it was a smoke free room. If it wasnt for this the hotel would have been top notch!
"Disappointing stay – terrific hotel rooms with limited and overpriced food options."
We stayed here out of convenience as we arrived late at night and were catching another flight early in the morning. The shuttle is located outside T3 and leaves every 20 minutes. We happened to arrive 5 minutes before the shuttle so it was very convenient. The shuttle is shared amongst properties and the Hilton is the second of three stops so all in all, it took us about 25 minutes to get to the hotel. The property is huge. There were several staff at the check in desk but no one was able to help us as they were all trainees, so we had to wait about 10 minutes to check in. Our room itself was lovely with high ceilings and modern décor. The shower was fantastic and of course included all the expected amenities (dental kit, shaving kit, etc.) There was a charge for wi-fi in the room even though I am a Hilton loyalty member which I thought was weird. I used the wi-fi in the lobby instead of paying US$12 and it was incredibly fast. The biggest disappointment for us was the food options. There was a buffet, Chinese and American – we opted for the latter as we’d been traveling for three weeks and just wanted something simple. I was surprised that the staff spoke very limited English given the location of the hotel. With the menu in English though, we were able to order by pointing. We asked for water and were given a bottle of Evian. There didn’t appear to be any other options so we said ok. Little did we know that it cost US$10! Perusing the menu, the cheapest meal was a curry for US$17. I really wanted the burger but refused to pay US$24. We also got a side salad and a side of naan bread as we were sharing the meal. The bread was terrific while the salad was old. The chicken curry had one piece of chicken in it and little to no spices or flavor. I also ordered a glass of wine – the cheapest they had was US$12 and it tasted like overly sweetened grape juice – clearly it had gone off. I tried to send it back but no one could understand me and the manager had disappeared. With the automatic 15% service charge, our dinner came to US$80. I don’t mind paying for good food but this was not good and not worth the money at all. Overall, I would not stay here again. It wasn’t that convenient in the end. The shuttle broke down in the morning so we had to take a taxi. Of course, we were stuck in traffic and it still took us 35 minutes to reach the terminal. For an extra 20 minutes, we could have taken the Airport Express into the city, had a delicious dinner, and made it back to the airport in the morning.
"One night stay at airport Hilton"
Very good, no complaints, the staff were all very good, the location is good, shuttle to the airport is good, the food in the restaurant was excellent, no complaints about the room which was clean and well laid out
"Really good overnight stay"
Stayed overnight flying through Beijing on business, was in a standard king room, good sized room, quiet, really nice bed and linen, large well appointed bathroom, free internet for Hilton honors, it was fast enough not to be a problem, breakfast was excellent and offered huge selection, staff all very pleasant and friendly. Very slight airport takeoff noise on airport side of hotel, not enough to be troubling, but apparently other side is quieter. Watch for specials - I had breakfast included and 20% off (in October which I think is slow here), but apparently upgrade to exec floor may sometimes be a better deal with free breakfast and happy hour.
"Great rest, great staff"
My husband and I were travelling through Beijing and had a one night layover. We chose the Hilton because we read great reviews and it did not disappoint! We arrived after midnight, and the staff was very friendly and attentive. The front desk staff spoke great English and check in was easy. The rooms were very clean, new and spacious. We had a very comfortable night there. The hotel also has a shuttle every 20 minutes to the airport terminals, which was really convenient for us. I would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone who has a long layover in Beijing and doesn't want to leave the airport!
