"Mother's Day afternoon tea"
My daughter who's 15 had saved to take myself and my mum for Mother's Day to the Hilton for afternoon tea. What a disappointment, the sandwich were stale and I had to ask for a Fresh lot, they replaced them with a another substandard batch. We decided to just eat what we could( which wasn't much) the jam pot had been used before as it had butter and jam all over it. The scones were hard and felt like they had been left out for a long time. My mum asked for another pot of tea which was brought back to the table and the waitress began to pour it over a cold cup of tea and the tea hadn't been left to stand so it look like water. There was no ambience there, not a flower in sight and music was way to loud for background music. The restaurant looked like a ikea restaurant not a high end Hilton!. I was so disappointed for my daughter who had saved up all her pocket money for months to take us there. To top it off, I had to query the bill to which we were over charge and a service charge of £7.50 added to the bill, Service what service !!!. I will never book another meal or afternoon tea there again
"The Best Afternoon Tea in the City"
We are afternoon tea Connoisseurs and have to say this is by far the best afternoon tea in the City of Cardiff. We went for a joint Birthday and Mothers Day celebration. From the minute you entered the Hotel you knew that you were in for a treat. The staff are so welcoming. Extremely customer focused and treat everybody the same. The quality of food in Grey's Restaurant was exceptional. Sandwiches so fresh. Cakes delicious and so much choice. There is something for everyone. Such good value and cannot find one fault. Highly recommend a visit. We will be back.
"Our family weekend away"
We had a family weekend away and stayed at the Hilton in Cardiff. The cost of the room was reasonable but the cleanliness and staff were excellent as was the breakfast. There was so much choice and all of a high quality. We will definitely return.
"very dissapointing, you are paying for the brand, there are nicer, cheaper hotels in cardiff"
Pros - staff were all friendly, very helpful, and always willing to help. Executive Lounge, which has snacks and drinks throughout the day, we visited in the evening which had a selection of canapés (non vegetarian), vegetable sticks and dips, cheese cubes, pickled veg, fish sticks, arancini (vegetarian), pretzels, peanuts, tortilla chips, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, wine, lager, coke, water, ginger beer, biscuits. Also at breakfast they had beans, scrambled eggs, pancakes, bacon, yoghurt, honey, granola, cereals, toast, pastries, various breads, orange juice, tea & coffee. fridge in room hair dryer in room access to pool, steam room, sauna & jacuzzi clean toiletries provided bath robe and slippers provided free wi-fi if you sign up to honors program you can pay with tesco clubcard vouchers but have to pay full room rate with this. Cons - to start with the cost, as this makes your expectations higher very small room, with no seating area, we stayed in room 617 which was a twin executive room. view of a tower block and car park broken drawer, which had tea facilities in it, making it impossible to open the drawer and get kettle out. faulty lamp, which emitted a very high pitched, annoying buzz, had to be left off, leading to a very dark room fridge was not switched on, had to reach behind it and feel around for switch don't bother requesting extra towels or pillows before arrival as they didn't deliver beds really hard £25 to park, plus tips blocked toilet on arrival, took 4 hours, and reporting it twice to get it fixed. couldn't get room warm with thermostat altogether very basic, I have paid a third of price and stayed in far superior rooms, but staff are so lovely that it almost makes up for the state of the hotel.
"Excellent Afternoon Tea - Grey Restaurant"
Most friendly and helpful receptionists, so lovely and great first impression of the hotel. Couldn't have been more welcoming. Everything about the hotel was exceptional, and I don't give praise lightly. It was clean and very stylish with excellent service in both bar where I had a drink and in Grey's restaurant where I had the afternoon tea with my family for Mother's Day. The food was beyond good and great value for money and service in both places attentive and efficient. We had a fantastic time and are already looking at when we can visit next!
