Hotel staff was very attentive and happy to assist in any way. Executive lounge was clean as well staffed. Pancakes, French toast, etc for breakfast. Snacks in the evening were not stocked very well considering the amount of people in the room. Pool staff was nice. Restaurante da Pietro is within walking distance and is great! Had pizza and pasta there.
"Not terrible, but not great either -- very middle-of-the-road"
I had an enormous suite on the top floor of the hotel for 3 nights. The physical setup was quite nice, but small things needed attending to, including the fact that dead spiders came out of the Jacuzzi jets in the bathroom when I first tried to use the Jacuzzi. The staff's English was hit-of-miss, I felt -- many smiles, but I felt I wasn't understood as well as I would have hoped. Some sort of huge convention was going on while I was there and the staff may have been overwhelmed; extremely loud music was blaring in the main lobby area for the first two days (sometimes with a live band, sometimes recorded music). There was no warning that if I did not return the pool towels at the end of the day that I would be charged the equivalent of $10.00 per towel (if someone had told me, I would have been happy to return the towels). Rooms are not expensive, so the value is commensurately good for what you pay.
"Tired, worn out property"
The paint is peeling off the ceiling in our room... the Executive Lounge was small and had very little selection for breakfast and snacks... while the staff was good and VERY attentive... but the hotel is tired and is in need of serious repair and updating.

This hotel has a wonderful pool . The service and food are exceptional. The breakfast is also just first-rate. The staff is so helpful. Again the food is some of the best we have had at a hotel. The pool is never crowded it is beautiful and has so many different places to swim it's just the best . It's probably twice as nice as the Hilton Hawaiian Village
"Great Hotel - Bad Communications"
Staying at the Hilton Cartagena Hotel this pass week was a great experience. From the very moment we arrived, the service was first class. We were greeted by one of their friendly bellboys as he opened the cab's door and the outstanding service just continued from that point on. We had a nice, very clean room with a beautiful view of the pools and ocean. Any special needs or issues were attended to immediately with just a short call. We were impressed with all of their services, including the bar and restaurant. The only complaint I have of my stay, is the lack of management communications. Because of events being held for the Colombian Beauty Pageant, we were unable to use the pool area a couple of times. If we would had been informed when we arrived at the hotel, it would have not been a problem. We would had done all of our site seeing on those last two days we weren't allowed to use the pool area. Instead we were notified on the morning of, with a memo slipped under our door. Even though the memo stated that only one of the three pools would be off limits, they were all unavailable. In fact, the pool areas and all three pools were off limits. If not because of this huge inconvenience on our last resting days, I would have rated this hotel a five star.
