"Hilton Cologne & our 45th Wedding Anniversary"
I would like to recognize the following staff for true Excellence in Service as my Wife and I celebrated our 45th Wedding Anniversary on November 27th. Laura Blessing assisted me in obtaining Yellow Roses which were placed inside of our room along with a bottle of champagne, a selection of pastries and some fruit. Her persistence and dedication to detail was superb. Stefan was the Maitre de on the evening of our 45th Wedding Anniversary. Stefan graciously attended to our every need. He began by congratulating us and serving us glasses of champagne. The meal, service and entire evening was superb. Ina was the Hostess the following day at Breakfast. She too congratulated us on the occasion of our Anniversary. Christine, who worked on the Front Desk was extremely kind, courteous and assisted us with our plans while in Cologne. Finally, Mohammed from House Keeping was equally gracious and willingly took several photos on our iPhone as my Wife and I first entered our room to see the beautiful arrangement of Yellow Roses! You have an exceptional Staff. Thank you very much.
"Good location but getting more expensive each time"
We use this Hilton every time we come to Cologne for an exhibition and location wise it's perfect for the train station, restaurants, bars etc. Cost wise though it does seem to be getting higher and higher each year and this time we were hit with the ludicrous city tax that you can only reclaim if you have your own business stamp with you (obviously not something we travel with generally !) so you then have to go through the farce of paying the tax and then getting it refunded by filling in forms and sending them back upon your return to the office. Not Hilton's fault I appreciate but perhaps something that they could alert travellers to in terms of what they need to bring with them as proof of business credentials as I had believed that a business card would suffice.
"Xmas Market Stay"
Stayed here for one night for the Xmas markets. Hotel is ideal location, minutes away from a few markets and the Cologne Cathedral. Hotel is ok. No free wifi in rooms. No water. You have to pay for everything and it's pricey. Rooms were small but perfect for a one night stay but be prepared to pay.
"Worst Hotel experience of my life"
I stayed at Cologne Hilton for 5 nights for a business trip, and this was simply the WORST EXPERIENCE IN MY LIFE. It all started the first minute I arrived. I had booked three rooms for two of my colleagues and myself, and I had specified for my room (and only my room) that I wanted a high floor room. During the check-in, they informed me that my room was at 1st floor because they were fully booked. Fine. But then they gave to my colleagues rooms at 5th and 6th floors. Huh, hello ' I was the only one who asked for high floor... Fine, I got my 1F room anyway, and then guess what, the heating system in the room was broken. So I spent the first night without heater in a room at 17 C, in November. Then the second morning, there was no hot water in my shower. "The water heating system got broken too"! I gave a phone call to reception to complain about it and they told me they would do something for me because they were sorry. When I got back in my room that night, there was a ridiculous glass cup on the table as a gift to apologize. When I shared the story to my colleague he told me he did not get a glass only but also a tall bottle of water. Great ! I complain, and they find a way to treat me like a second-class customer compared to others. NOW THE BEST PART, ISSUE THAT IS STILL NOT SOLVED! When I arrived home, I noticed that the hotel had taken authorization on my credit card for a payment of 1000 €. Guess what... I paid the whole hotels fees by cash during the check-in, so they basically double charged me for no reason. I had to call my bank, then the hotel, to finally get on the phone with accounting department and hear that they don't know why they did that but they will solve it. I gave the phone call one week ago, the money is still locked on my account and I cannot use it. So basically, in this Hotel: Staff make a fool of you and disrespect you. You have no heater. You take ice cold shower before going to a business meeting. They don't care at all about you being dissatisfied with the three above, and then they cause you major problems with your bank account and your money by taking 1000 euros by mistake. Stay far from this hotel. Don't even consider it.
"Great location, but not the best Hilton"
We have stayed at many Hilton properties all over the world. This one is near the bottom of the list. We are accustomed to upgrading to a suite; here our upgrade just got us... not sure, it was just a regular hotel room. Breakfast was not included, even with the silver elite club and upgraded room. It was a fantastic breakfast, but for 20 euro each, not sure it was worth it. There was no mini-bar and no bottled water in the room. No executive lounge. No concierge. Toiletries in the bathroom were shampoo, conditioner, bar soap, lotion, and shower gel. TV has a few English speaking channels, mostly British programs and news.
