Excellent hotel in brilliant location with friendly and attentive staff although food service in evenings is expensive. Location set on lovely sheltered cove is probably with very few equals -- 5 starComment of M. Darrell , United Kingdom the 2015-04-08
"Outstanding Service and a Beautiful Hotel"
My husband and I had an ocean view room for 6 nights. From the moment we checked in, the staff provided us with exceptional service. They would ask about your days, give recommendations, remember your names, and are super friendly. The hotel has a great layout to it and everything is in close proximity. The beach is really nice and provides great snorkeling/diving a few feet away from shore. Since the Hilton has an old fort on the property you can not only see good fish but also items from the fort ie old chains, boulders, etc in the water which provides something different/unique to see. The pool area is big and very nice with the infinity pool to overlook the ocean and the sunset. The buffet breakfast and food at the bar were both very good. Lots of options to choose from. We would highly recommend this hotel!!
"Quaint Island Hilton"
My husband and I, along with a couple of friends, visited the Hilton Curacao while on a cruise. We were due to be in port from 8am until 11pm, and knew we wanted a beach day. I called Hilton's Diamond line to ask what ports we were visiting had Hilton Hotels, and Curacao was one of them. The Diamond line booked me a points + cash room, so I paid a good rate. The hotel is older, and it does show. The check in desk was clean and looked newly renovated. When I introduced myself, the associate welcomed me, let me know my room was not yet ready (it was early), and asked if we would prefer to wait at the beach or the executive lounge while it was finished. We let him know that the beach was our destination, and he gave us towel cards. We headed to the beach. It is fairly small, but there were enough chairs for the two gentlemen who did not care to head to the water. Many of the chairs had towels on them, but no people. There was a bit of shade with the chairs. After a while, some people left, and we pulled a couple of chairs over to give us four together. The desk associate appeared with our room keys, and let us know the room was ready when we were. The beach is a little rocky, but not terrible. My biggest complaint is that people have smoked a lot at the beach and dropped their butts. It appears that no one has cleaned the beach of those butts. At other beaches, I've seen the staff use a skimmer tool to remove such items. Unfortunately, the hotel wi-fi doesn't reach to where we were at the beach. Additionally, we had to walk up to the main building to reach a restroom. My friend tried the drink of the day and said it was rather sweet. We heard the same from another couple on the beach. Once we were done enjoying the sand and sun, we headed to the room to clean up, before heading back to the ship. it was about 4pm at that point. The room was reasonably clean, but the tropical weather does show. The towel bar in the bathroom had some rust. It is the style where you have to put your room key in the wall to have electricity on in the room, so that may contribute. There was a note on the bed welcoming me by name, and a note from the hotel manager welcoming me by name as well. There was a basket with four candies and a couple of bottles of water. Diamond status has it's perks! We went down to check back out after cleaning up and taking advantage of the hotel wi-fi (which required a phone call to get the right password as Diamond members get premium wi-fi at no cost.) There was a very nice woman named Kareen who couldn't believe we were leaving so fast. She was warm and welcoming and coached her new associate on who to call for a taxi to take us back to the ship. I'm curious to see how the hotel looks after renovations are completed. All the people we encountered were very nice and welcoming, but the age of the hotel does show.
"Far far below expectations."
This is a very outdated hotel built in the mid sixties and looks like is has struggled over the years. As a Hilton Diamond member it is important to understand the basis of reference and comparison for these reviews. The staff was adequate but the property is in great need of attention. Bathroom ceiling tiles falling out, fake flowers as you exit the elevators, electrical outlets not functioning and not clean and tight as you would expect a Hilton Resort on the beach. The locals are apathetic about tourists and not very friendly. Very disappointing.
"Natural beauty surrounds vintage Hilton"
My husband and I stayed here 6 nights. The property setting amidst the ruins of an old fort on the sea made for a very unique experience with beautiful sunset views every evening. From the property, one could snorkel, scuba, boat, swim, or simply enjoy the beach. The flowing infinity pools spill from one into another and are well maintained. Restaurants provide delicious food choices. Hotel rooms are very clean and the balconies overlooking the beach and resort are a nice size. The entire staff was absolutely wonderful and most helpful. The Executive Lounge was a delightful area with the best ladies ever! Thank you, Kareen and ladies, for making our vacation most delightful!
"Fantastic service, SUPER friendly, beautiful grounds"
we had a room facing the ocean on the 5th floor - this was just amazing. The pictures on Trip Advisor do the hotel justice. Willemstad is accessible, we did walk it in 50 minutes, but I would suggest either using the hotel shuttle or hire a car (Budget office on site). The beach is great, a good size, not overcrowded and gets the sun practically all day. First I'll get the slight negative out of the way: The hotel is undergoing renovation and modernisation, it is indeed more a sixties type hotel and does need updating. If you look there are points that you can critique. The positives: The Staff - this was one of the most amazing teams I have seen in a hotel - the staff were just fantastic. We had a chat with Cederic (the hotel manager) and all we could do was sing the praises of the team - they were incredibly friendly from the time we arrived until the end of our 8 day stay. They could not have been friendlier. They would recognise us in the hallways, they remembered our names, they would chat with us if they met us - they made us feel extremely welcome and as if the hotel was really our home from home. We had breakfast every morning on the ground floor. The buffet was very well stocked, and you can order your omlettes based on your desires. The team in the breakfast area were always attentive and ensured our coffee was always filled and that we were comfortable. We tended to go out quite a bit for dinners into Willemstad, but the lunches we had in the hotel were tasty. One of the staff members needs to be called out - Kareen was incredible from day one - not only to us, but she interacted so well with guests whenever we saw her - not only did she love it but anyone who came in contact with her was infected with her enthusiasm and positivity. To be fair, this can be said about all the staff, but we had most contact with Kareen. A few evenings a week there is entertainment which we enjoyed listening to as we sat on our balcony drinking a glass of wine and listening to the ocean. The Island of Curaçao is also beautiful, the beaches are truly amazing and the people are extremely friendly. If you get talking to some of the locals (and I suggest you do) you will find that they are very proud of what their small island has achieved, they are very optimistic about the future and are really aiming for the island to be the destination of choice. One thing is for sure, we will go back to Curaçao again in the near future. Thanks to the Hilton Curaçao Team for making our stay so fantastic.
