"Lovely little break away"
My husband and I returned yesterday from a lovely few days away in Edinburgh. This hotel is an easy 20 minute journey by taxi/uber from airport. Upon check in we were extremely early as we had an early morning flight. The receptionist check to see if any rooms were available but they were all full, wasn't a problem as we were able to leave our cases and go out to explore for the afternoon. When we returned we checked in and were lucky enough to be given an upgrade! Comfortable rooms and a comfy night sleep! Great full breakfasts in the mornings until 10am. Also provided ne with gluten free toast, you just need to ask someone for it. Only down side was the 2nd morning breakfast was not warm. But overal a lovely place to stay and a good location! We would definitely return!
"Very good....once we had an upgraded room"
Our first room wasn't great at all. It was tiny, and I mean super small. Bahtroom taps look like they'd been taken from my mums house and the floor was so creeky it was unreal. I complained and was kindly given an upgraded room which was 2 or 3 times bigger than the initial one. I agree with the other reviewers in that it needs work. A lick of paint or basic housekeeping on the rooms would be advantaegous. All too often i'm finding the lobbys look amazing but the rooms less so. With a small bit of renovation in each of the rooms this could be great and at a fraction of the price of other hiltons in the area it would do really well.
I stayed in the hotel in January, for two nights, with a friend. Got the room through booking.com Good location - close to a tram stop, which takes you to the airport and a 10min walk to Princess street, which is very central. Breakfast was good. The hotel itself needs some renovations - furniture, carpets, it all looks aged. We had a mess up with the quote and payment to booking and the hotel charged us extra for the stay without confirming with us first. However, after a long discussion with reception, we were refunded the extra charge. That wasn't a great experience, however it was sorted eventually. We received a complimentary cab ride to where we were headed for the inconvenience, which I though was nice.
"A good location to explore Edinburgh"
I had a 2 nights stay in the Hilton Grosvenor Street. Friendly staff, a very small sized room with a big sized bed. In general it was clean, breakfast had a good variety. Coffee is maybe not the best, but there are enough other things to drink. For the rate i got the room it was worth the money. The location is good located close to the main attractions but in a quiet street.
"Outdated rooms but friendly staff"
Stayed at the Hilton Grosvenor for 2 nights through HHonours and got a great discount! Rooms were slightly outdated however had a pleasent stay. Staff were friendly and informative about transport and things to do around the area which was very helpful as it was our first stay here! The room was of an average size and came with the usual tea and coffee along with complimentary shower wash etc. However found there was only 2 plugs in the room and only one of them worked which meant I had to keep swapping between charging my phone and drying my hair. Along side this one of the switched on the lamp in the room was not working and the bedside table lamp was not secured properly! However the bed was comfortable and clenleaness of the room was average. Chose not to report our problems as we were not in the room for much during our stay. Staff were very good when we asked for any directions or extras for the room such as a bucket of ice, no hesitation was made. Overall would stay again if found at a good price however would not pay the standard price for this hotel.
