"Lack of cleanliness"
We were very disappointed in the bathroom shower being extremely dirty. There's black mold all around the shower/tub areas. It has had to been there for quite sometime given the extent of the mold. We checked out of HGV a day early to stay here to be closer to airport. Had I known the situation of the lack of cleanliness we would not have stayed here. Lastly, our room was extremely hot, and was very uncomfortable to the point of not being able to sleep. Very disappointed in our night here.
Room was very nice. Everything was clean. Executive lounge was mediocre. Shuttle to and from the city was very prompt. But it was a pain not having a hotel in the middle of the old town. The spa and whirlpool in the basement did not work.
Fantastic stay at this Hilton. Everything from check in to check out was great. The staff are so helpful. The room we were given was such a delight. Corner room and had a view of florence. The dry pasta in our room was such a nice welcome. (Still need to figure out how to cook it). Beds are super comfortable and bathrooms are huge. A small mini fridge was in our room as well. Free parking and wifi. They also offer a free shuttle service to the city and this was very helpful! It drops you off at the train station which is a perfect location. They run numerous times throughout the day. They have a schedule handy for you when you check in. We would definitely stay here again if we are to visit Florence. Thanks for making our trip wonderful!
"Very Friendly Staff"
By far, the outstanding attribute of this hotel is the front staff. Multiple times, they provided help and assistance that was above and beyond what I have previously experienced. Having said that, there are some important negatives, not the least of which is the distance from the city center. Yes, there is a shuttle about 8 times a day, and it takes 20 minutes to arrive at a bus stop at the back of the train station. Because of the infrequency of the departures and the site of the drop-off point, it's not very convenient. To get anywhere from the drop off, you have to walk up a ramp and through the entire train station, about a 10-minute walk by itself. While Florence is easily walkable, I found that I took a taxi most of the time, about 25 euros each way. The fact that it rained much of the time compounded the convenience issue. While I enjoy an elite status at Hilton and was given access to the executive lounge, my room was nothing special. In fact, the electric curtain that is the only provision for a darkened room at night, stopped working my last night. This prompted the attempts of several people to fix it and the suggestion that I change rooms-at 1030 PM after 3 glasses of wine-an untenable suggestion. Finally, a guy in a suit got on a ladder, tugged on the curtain, and voila! The bed was imminently comfortable, and it was quiet, but there were some issues. The wi-fi, supposedly "high speed," was awful for all 4 days I was there. It would suddenly go "off" necessitating a return sign-in. The windows had been locked making fresh air impossible. In addition, the room was too hot, and all efforts to turn down the heat failed. There is a sign next to the thermostat that says that the from desk can further modify the room temperature by "3 degrees;" however, nothing happened when I requested a cooler room. I had bought a bottle of Verniccia for a weird reason. The wine in the lounge was the first undrinkable wineI have had in Europe. In fact, the entire exec lounge experience was disappointing. Really, there was nothing there I wanted to eat. The nighttime "snacks" featured cubes of cheese and cherry tomatoes. The hot dish was pasta or rice slathered with lipids. The breakfast was exactly what you would get at a Hampton Inn; I went there only for the coffee, from a machine, which was at least better than the instant provided in my "upgraded" room. Last, since there was a small fridge but no corkscrew in my room, I asked the front if I could borrow one. He refused to lend me one, and I was required to go up the the 14th floor and bring him the bottle so he could begrudgingly open it. Compared to my last two Hilton stays, both in Asia two months ago, this one left some boxes unchecked.
