"Beautiful hotel in strategic place"
Nice and clean hotel really near the center. Full of stores, restaurants and clubs. We didn't take breakfast in hotel, but in the square front there are many bar. Cafè rouge and others. The people work in reception is very kind. I asked for phone recharge convert. From New Street train station is just 10 min walking. 30 min from airport in taxi, 28£. Ticket train from New Street to airport 2.70£
"Positives, yes, but negatives also"
Stayed for one night in march 2017, booked by my employer. Location - just off Broad Street with a large number of chain restaurants and chain pubs/bars nearby. Prefer independents myself.... Lobby large modern and airy, quite pleasant. Staff on desk were helpful at check in and check out. Room was OK, not too small but I have stayed in many larger. Decor modern and light, unlike many hotels light level in the room was fine. Bed OK, but a little high above the ground for my taste. Bathroom small, with only a small shower cubicle, but decoration and cleanliness OK. The big letdown was the air con in the room. For some totally unfathomable reason the air con is only available between April and October. From November to March it is switched off, and the thermostat in the room can only be used for heating.... WHY' The room was baking hot, all night long, with heating off and window open as far as it would go. I like a cold room in which to sleep. Uncomfortable sweaty hot night even lying on top of the covers. - unbelievable. Breakfast - again positives and negatives. BIG positive oin having an egg chef... cooking eggs fresh to order beside the buffet... great, fantastic, something all hotels should do. HOWEVER she was only cooking fried eggs or omelettes. For scarmabled eggs it was back to a bowl on the buffet - which was full of terribly overcooked something, bearing blue tinges - looked disgusting didn't even bother to try. BIG fail of the scrambled egg test. Why couldn't the egg chef cook them fresh to order. The omelette I did order was also overcooked by the egg chef. Bacon from the buffet however was tasty and was not overcooked for a change.
"Overnight stay for concert.."
Our daughters were going to a concert a the Barclaycard Arena just so chose this hotel based on its location. It was the perfect choice as very close to the arena and all the great bars and restaurants by the canal. Room was immaculate and our stay was very enjoyable. Breakfast also very good. Would definitely stay again, hopefully in the summer months next time.
"Really impressed with Hilton Garden Inn in Birmngham"
At last I found a hotel I cannot fault. The Reception staff are the most efficient and friendly I have encountered. For my wife's birthday they organised a lovely room and even went to the bar to get a wine bucket with ice to chill our wine. Clean and compact rooms with everything you need and comfy beds
"Excellent for a conference stay"
Fourth time in Birmingham for a yearly conference. Been trying different hotels, but this is so far the best, if you consider price and proximity to the conference centre. Very friendly reception, clean nice room even though it wasn't huge, good free wifi and three minutes walk to the ICC. My only objection was the price of the breakfast which unfortunately wasn't included. I could have done with a continental and only paid half the price.
