"Great Location, a lot of hidden fees"
First off, the hotel grounds are beautiful. Nestled right along the ocean and a golf course, the views are breathtaking. The room was large and clean, nice bathroom. My issue is the "Additional fees" they tack on and their lack of value in their restaurant. It's $29 to park here over night, even as a guest. I've paid less in New York city for overnight parking. They have a huge parking garage, so it's not like they lack the room. Then they hit you for a $22 resort fee. Now the heated pool and hot tub are great, but $22' They give you a lame list of stuff it gets you, which isn't much, to soften the obvious blow of added expenses. So know I am $51+ dollars more in to this than I planned and I just checked in. I'm hungry, so I go to go to their restaurant/bar, which again is very nice. I had a $17 burger + $1.50 for cheese. To say this was underwhelming would be an understatement. It was small, over cooked and just ok. The fries were undercooked, not even a $10 burger, but certainly not a $18.50 burger. The bartender was super nice and was the highlight of the experience. They have a great staff and the location is beautiful, but if things cost more the upkeep, just raise your prices, don't hide them in other things, it's annoying. I'd much rather pay for a higher room rate and know what I am expecting to pay than the add ons. It's the execution. But if your from way out of town and the companies picking up the tab, well have at it, its a cool spot.
"Gorgeously quiet. "
Very quiet resort. Lovely hotel and grounds are spectacular. One of the best Hiltons of this level I have stayed in. Food in resort was good. But, whole facility was understaffed. Waiters overextended, front desk working two people very hard to ck. People in and out. Bar understaffed at peek times. Had to wait over thirty minutes for bellman to check out. Actually valet parking staff was on top of it or were staffed adequately. Really loved this site but felt sorry for staff. They were friendly, courteous and as efficient as they could be. The Torrey Pines hiking trails and state park are a must do. Scripps Aquarium near to resort. Great for children and a great venue for weddings. As is the resort itself. Lots of near by shopping-boutiques and large shopping malls. Wonderful area for families. I had a very relaxing stay.
I really enjoyed this hotel, the amenities were awesome, and the staff as well, including Rich Woods, who was the friendliest bell desk person I have ever encountered, and we had a great time joking with each other, during my stay, over the Thanksgiving Holiday Weekend.
"Peaceful and Lovely"
Great hotel with two pools and ocean views. Exceptionally quiet, friendly professional staff. No bathtubs but lovely large showers. Wifi glitchy. Pretty and comfortable. Elegant water feature in the dining area was a nice touch.
Great value for a beautiful property. Valet parking is too pricey. Food is great and room service is very efficient. The grounds are beautiful and a had a view of the ocean which is so important to me.
