"Great Location and Staff but Quaint Property"
I visited two days on a business trip. The hotel's location in Mayfair is excellent only two blocks from the Ritz and right off Green Park and subsequently Hyde Park in the City of Westminster. There are many good restaurants very nearby. The staff was most efficient. The room was quite small and awkward in that there were steps down to the very tiny bathroom. I had breakfast included and this benefit was quite good. All in all, although not luxurious, this is a very reasonably price, well-located option for a hotel in central London particularly if your business is nearby or if you are spending the vast majority of your time touring London.
"Great Location, good service"
Had a recent business trip and decided to explore this property in moderation to my usual choice Hilton Park Lane. Location is perfect for any type of visit to London, weather leisure of business. Check in was fast and efficient. Long corridors. Then the room. Rather cozy and clean although the out of date spirit was haunting the atmosphere. Breakfast was very good and the service was excellent. There was a Pilipino cook at the eggs station, really entertaining. The lounge area is perfect for meetings as it offers privacy. A great benefit is the Costa coffee offering. There was some problem where I was double charged for my room stay but they were very quick to reconcile the problem and the amount was recovered on my credit card. A cozy place.
Comfortable rooms. Great staff. Nice breakfast. Easily within walking distance of all of the tourist sites - palace, parliament, Trafalgar, and the West End. The tube is two blocks away and you can exit the hotel - turn right - walk two blocks through a park and you're at the palace. Shopping or sightseeing - great hotel.
"Great location - Tiny rooms."
I arrived at 8am after a long trip and was greeted by very pleasant staff. The location was amazing but the room - disappointing. It was at the far end of a hallway, up some stairs and tucked into a corner. The room was dark and tiny (just enough space to walk around the edges of the bed) with and awful view of a brick wall. The bed was clean / comfortable. Bathroom was okay; the shower wasn't great as it was only a hand shower that didn't spray well when hung up. Overall not a bad stay because i spent very little time in the room and the location made up for it. Short walk to the tube station with many restaurants, cafes etc. nearby. The staff was courteous and helpful and they offered a good complimentary breakfast.
"Very civilised afternoon tea.."
My son bought us an afternoon tea experience at this hotel for our anniversary. I have to say we were totally delighted. There was no sense of the place being crowded or busy (although we went early in March so perhaps there just wasn't anyone around!) and it was nicely quiet without being too much like a library. We could choose any (more than one if we wanted) of I think 12 different types of tea but for me there were too many varieties of fruit teas and not enough types of black tea to choose from. The lady on the table next to us asked for coffee and what she got looked to me like a fairly standard American-coffee-chain coffee. An amusing little touch is that there was an egg-timer on the table so you could know exactly when the tea was properly brewed. I now know it takes exactly 4 minute to make the perfect cuppa. Very nice selection of sandwiches, cakes and scones. Actually there was probably too much for the pair of us to eat but we persevered. The staff were very friendly and helpful and nothing seemed to be too much trouble. We enjoyed our tea immensely and I would thoroughly recommend this. As this was a present I don't know how much it cost so can't comment on the value for money. The one strange thing was that in the gents there was shampoo rather than soap. Very odd.
