Great experience and great beach!! Beautiful location, staff was great AND THE TURTLES!!!! We watched the turtles hatch and scamper into the sea! What an experience. Truly loved it. Loved the inifinity pool and pool bars.
"Great location, beautiful place, wonderful service"
We only stayed one night before relocating into a condo, but it was perfect. The beach is wonderful as you can swim there which is not common in Cabo. The hotel is beautiful. We had excellent service from everyone on the staff. The food was delicious, even though the dinner menu is not cheap we thought it a really great meal. Highly recommend, but request a room overlooking the main pool or the ocean directly.
We last visited this Hilton in 2008. We loved it then and it is even better now after the improvements made after a hurricane 2 years ago. We thought the service levels matched or exceeded any other resort we have visited throughout the world. In fact, overall I would rate this our favorite resort and we have stayed at many throughout the Caribbean and Hawaii including multiple Ritz Carltons. Check in was the best experience ever. We were met at our car by an attendant who already knew our name from the gate guard, he grabbed our bags, stopped at the bar to get us 2 margaritas and off to our room we went no stopping at the front desk. I reserved a partial ocean view room but the general manager (Tim B) upgraded us to probably one of the best standard rooms possible, Room 4027. Awesome! Thanks Tim! Wifi worked great in the room and by the pool. My one complaint about this property and I believe it is an overall Cabo area issue is the sand. My wife and I love to walk on the beach and the sand (really small pebbles) was so rough on our feet we couldn't stand it. We heard others at our hotel and other hotels say the same thing. We didn't remember this from our previous trip to Cabo. The fitness center had plenty of equipment and in good repair. I had a massage at the spa and it was the best massage I've had. Food at the pool was fabulous. We had the ahi tuna salad multiples times, the chicken breast salad, lettuce wrapped sea bass, tuna salad sandwich, and carnitas. All very fresh with excellent taste! We were not so crazy about the chips and guacamole. We typically only have one meal at our resort, the day we arrive. We find there are better restaurants elsewhere or at least more cost effective options. But our experience eating at the Hilton was top notch. We had dinner the first night at Vela which is right next to the pool which is good and not so good. The floating lanterns were a cool look. However having wet swimmers walk past our table constantly took a little of the vibe away. I had the Minestra soup. It was unique but it was not even warm. I had the Lenguinni with the fresh catch(sea bass) and it was phenomenal. My wife had the Spaguetti Alla Carbonara and she loved it. Prices were about normal for a resort restaurant. The piano player was a nice touch. We ate breakfast daily and dinner one night at El Meson. Our food was excellent. I had the red snapper and my wife had the fajitas. The tortilla soup was amazing; certainly the best I've eaten. As a bonus, we could hear an amazing violin player down below us at the Vela. We had sushi one night at Azul, the lobby area sports bar/restaurant. It was outstanding. We met some people from Seattle, used to amazing sushi, who said they also loved the hotel sushi. We paid over $100 to rent a cabana the first day but decided for regular chairs after this as there are plenty of umbrellas. Was surprised the service wasn't better for the cabana. Here is a review of local restaurants. Edith's. If you don't eat here while in the Cabo area, go ahead and kick yourself now! The directions on google maps were wrong and we spent about 30 minutes trying to find this place until a local told us where to go. We are so glad we didn't give up. Fantastic atmosphere and extremely fresh food. My wife had chicken enchiladas and they were the best she had ever eaten. I had the ahi tuna and it was very flavorful. We had the flaming bananas foster with ice cream and it was also excellent. We changed our plans to come back here again on our last vacation day. Excellent again! Sunset Mona Lisa. You won't find a better setting for a sunset view restaurant. Excellent. But make sure you have a reservation well in advance and make sure it is for the Mona Lisa restaurant as they have 3 as I found out the hard way and their reservation request does not make this clear. I was not as crazy about their food. Small portions and not as good as other restaurants we tried. Ate at Dan Sanchez in San Jose Del Cabo. Atmosphere, service, and food were excellent! I had the yellowtail and my wife had the hen and both were very well prepared. We highly recommend. Rented a car from Cactus Car Rental at the airport. Would highly recommend them. They include all the costs unlike other companies and their checkout process was very efficient. But make sure you clear customs and walk straight through the mass of time share people. Do not stop for anything until you are outside the airport doors and find the Cactus guy or whoever else you are meeting. They will use all kinds of trickery to stop you! We did a luxury sailboat and snorkeling cruise with Cabo Adventures. It was excellent. Great boat, friendly guides, excellent food, and very good snorkeling. If you just want to snorkel, you can drive to Santa Maria beach, which is where we snorkeled from the boat. It is located between the Hilton and Cabo San Lucas. No beach amenities but great variety of colorful fish. We drove to Todos Santos, primarily to see the Hotel California. It was not a bad drive, primarily countryside. However, according to a local and after further research on the internet, it does not appear that this was really what inspired the Eagles song with the same name. In fact, the cover of their album is the Beverly Hills Hilton. Not sure we would recommend this trip. I'm sure we will return to Cabo and to the Hilton again soon. We had an outstanding time!
This Hilton was recommended by friends who stay there freguently. Every aspect of our visit was outstanding from the checkin process to food, bar, room, poolside, spa. All the restaurants were excellent. Every employee we interacted with was friendly and always doing the little extra thing. Someone compared this hotel to a Ritz and I concur.
"Gorgeous Hotel, Great Staff, Mediocre Crowd"
Two girl friends and I stayed at this hotel for my birthday and really enjoyed it. Overall, it was a great hotel but here are my pros and cons. Pros: Gorgeous room/hotel. Very attentive and friendly staff (shout out to Wilver and Joel!); seriously we felt so special and welcome. Swimmable beach. Multiple pools with swim up bars (including a bar on the beach). Best breakfast buffet ever and delicious food at the restaurants (we ate at all 3 during our stay). Quiet nights so no trouble sleeping. Easy access (20 min cab) to Cabo San Lucas. Cons: The crowd was all old folks and young families (meaning quite a few kids), which is great if you fall into one of those categories. We do not. Also, didn't see any ethnic diversity whatsoever amongst hotel guests (we were the only non-white people there) but of course that's not the hotel's fault! The swim up pool bars close at 6pm, which means you have to go to one of the restaurants at the hotel for anything to do after that time. Or pay to take a cab to Cabo (was running us $30 each way). One weird thing I noticed after the fact was the (fancy) restaurant charged us for the birthday dessert they brought out (which we didn't order). The on-property convenience store was super overpriced (like $30 for insect repellent overpriced). Also, the hotel only allows room charge for all payments - no cash and basically no credit card (their machines are super slow). Again, had a great time! These are just things to consider!
