Stayed for one night, for a 2 day work meeting, package was prebooked to include dinner bed and breakfast and lunch provided with the meeting. easy to park, although disappointed with having to pay for parking, other hotels at the airport include this with our business meetings but this can be claimed on expenses anyway so doesn't really matter. Meeting room was set up with tea and coffee etc. Checked in after the meeting on the first day, process was efficient and staff were friendly and helpful. Dropped bags in room which was spacious and clean, then back down to the bar for a drink before dinner. Bar service friendly but £5.50 for a koppaberg cider a bt over priced but to be expected at airport hotels. After drinks we were shown quickly to our table and we were advised we had 3 courses included but would need to pay for any extras and drinks, all food arrived quickly 2 of us had the meatballs and 2 had a goats cheese ravioli which was all nice and tasty followed by good main courses (wildboar burger 2 steaks and a pizza) all were nice handmade "jenga" chips were nice but a bit sparse for the price (if we had paid!) steaks were good. desserts were nice too. on talking the next day to others on our course their experience wasn't as good they said their chips were undercooked. Few more drinks in the bar then to bed- mattress was poor quality really and very creaky was disappointing. Not much noise though considering its at an airport. Shower was broken the tap came off in my hand and would only give fairly cool water but too late when you've already got in!! I mentioned it at checkout so wether it got looked at I don't know. Good selection at breakfast hash browns were delicious. Lunches on the 2 days were buffet style and we're ok but compared to other airport hotels nearby wasn't as good- only 2 hot options fish or meat and a veg option or soup and a Salad bar but there wasn't much to go with the salad as in cold meats. Overall it was OK but having been to meetings at both Claytons and radisson blu I'd Mark it 2nd place behind the radisson which is much better overall.
"Well placed for airport travel."
Nice hotel very close to airport terminals, easy to get to, on-site parking whilst away and does have a shuttle bus service. Seemed to have enough parking but may be a bit more limited when very busy. Rooms are spacious, warm, very comfortable, clean and have nice bathrooms. The hotel is well staffed, with a decent bar and restaurant and the buffet breakfast was excellent. The shuttle bus has quite limited space so you need to book early and even then may not get on it, even very early in the morning. Best thing is to book a taxi which is only around £3.50 and takes no more than 10 minutes to drop off at terminal. Same on your return just grab a taxi outside the airport back to the hotel (Black cabs a bit more expensive but still only about £5). Left the car whilst away and got car park ticket validated in reception on return so cost nothing. If you can get parking when you book it is worth it, parking is £14 a day for anyone having to pay for it. All in all a very nice place and makes airport travel a lot easier.
"Average at best"
This hotel confirms my belief that Hilton really needs to sort out its branding to help with guest expectations. I've stayed at some amazing Hilton hotels (e.g. Bankside in London) but despite carrying the premium "Hilton" tag brand this is a 1000 miles from a premium venue. All the sub brands are confusing as to what they actually represent (e.g. DoubleTree etc). I was staying for business for one night. The Pros: Reception area is nicely decorated. The room is a reasonable size and has a fridge (with nothing in it!) and a bath in the bathroom with decent toiletries. The room was clean and check in was efficient. Convenient for the airport. The Cons: The whole building is a dated looking '80's structure. The room decor is looking tired and in need of a refurb, a bit better than a Travel Inn but considering my room was £150/night not that much better. Continues the Hilton annoyance of locking out the HDMI ports on the TV so you can't use it with any other sources (e.g. iPad). No stocked mini-bar The TV was old (only HD Ready) and the picture quality was poor with limited entertainment options. Struggled to find a space in the car park (although there are a lot) but did find one eventually after a lot of driving around. Staff at check in weren't particularly welcoming (and I'm an IHG member). In summary I'd look elsewhere next time, I'm sure there are better options, especially for the money.
"Excellent overnight stay prior to travelling"
This is the second time we have stayed at the Hilton the night prior to travelling. Both stays have been excellent, the rooms are spacious and quiet, the airport transfer provided by the hotel us excellent also. We also used the restaurant for the latest visit, the choice was good and the actual food was superb.
Excellent customer service, good online booking facility. Well positioned for access to airport and train station. Brilliant hotel shuttle bus. Excellent dining and coffee bar facilities. Comfortable rooms and spotlessly clean.
