Was slow to check in, tap was leaking in bathroom, toilet seat was loose and only one bath towel was in room. Paid extra for breakfast in room - tray charge - £10.00, breakfast was cold, tea was cold also. Cloud 23 was a nice experience but not enough to warrant staying in hotel again. Would not recommend, plenty of other nice hotels in Manchester.
On returning to our room (1620) to prepare for our evening out we tried to switch the tv on. On realising it wasn't working we contacted reception. Someone came to try and rectify the problem but advised that someone else would need to come. As we would be getting ready to go out we requested they attend whilst we were out (a disappointment as I did want to watch tv before we went out). On returning later in the evening We checked the tv again to make sure it had been attended to and we would be able to watch it the next morning. Imagine our surprise to find out it still wasn't working. A further telephone call to reception meant another visit from a member of staff who was unable to solve the problem and said he would go down and report the problem and sort it out. Three further telephone calls from us to reception and the problem still wasn't resolved in spite of having been advised the manager had said he was going to contact us. At 1.30 am we chose to ring and tell them we wanted to go to bed and to forget it. We were really disappointed. We feel the situation was very unsatisfactory. We would not have booked a room without a tv and feel the staff should have been able to solve the problem. We again reported it to reception on check out and their response was they would "inform housekeeping". Beautiful room but VERY DISAPPOINTED.
"Another excellent stay"
The executive rooms are on the higher floors affording great views across the city. The bed was extremely comfortable as were the pillows, I felt cocooned and could have slept on and missed breakfast! The staff are always friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble for them.
"Nice hotel in good location"
Booking in was a prolonged experience, despite it having gone 3 p.m. our room was not ready. As Hilton Gold members we were hoping for an upgrade, but due to the hotel being busy, none available, and neither were we offered access to the Executive lounge as a previous reviewer was given. Due to the wait for our room we were given complimentary drink vouchers for Cloud 23, this is not a drink of your choice but whatever is the complimentary drink that day. Cloud 23 offers lovely views of the City, but the drink prices are extortionate! Our room when we eventually got it was very nice and spotlessly clean, staff without exception were pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was fine and we would stay again, despite the hiccup when checking in handy for the Deansgate railway station.
First of all we did get upgraded, when then my partner told the staff it was our honeymoon night, the upgrade was a Jacuzzi bath. we arrived to find valet park was full, we did arrive early and had already booked in online, but the room wasnt ready so we was offered a different room we did accept also asking was the room the same as the previously book yes was the answer. upon arrival at room 1608 this was a room for a single person 1 of everything, first of all we ask housekeeping who was outside the room for a few things then foned reception. at this point we was going out so we thought we would just have a look at the excutive lounge which was full of guests from cloud 23 having cream teas, so we had book and excutive room to share the lounge with visitors, not guests. in reception my husbabnd went to the gents so i thought i would tell the receptionist about our honeymoon and the room how its for one and its not very good for a honeymoon couple, he said he would sort it out. when we came back into the hotel the room had been sorted but still there was a red mark on the voil and curtains there was rust on the tap in the bath room where the chrome had come off. my husband recieved a review email so i gave everything a 1 also explained, he then received an email about our experience i spoke to i think Mr Ben Morton who asked me would i stay again, I said no he apologised and that was it.
