"Terrible Melbourne Hotel"
This is day 3 in this hotel and you could not get me to return if it was free. On the first night the blackout blind didn't work properly and wouldn't go all the way down so I got no sleep. When they were not able to fix it they moved me to another room the next day. The room was filthy with a used latex wrapped in tissue under the bed that was visible from the bathroom (I did not go looking) and the TV did not work. Today I needed some antihistamine for my allergies and I asked the concierge who told me that I would have to go into the city. A 30 minute walk to the CBD and then a $15 taxi fare to return and I discovered that there is a general store attached to the hotel and, you guessed it, they sell antihistamine. All the duty manager wants to do is make excuses.
"soaring great heights at the hilton hotel"
The Hilton at South Wharf provided excellent service in rooms that are well designed and spacious. The view from my room on level12 was beautiful. The art work around the foyer was interesting and captivating creating a really interesting space to be welcomed in. This is centrally located and has great access to public transport. Breakfast wass inviting and very tasty; delicious in fact; except the coffee. The staff were very welcoming and efficient and friendly.
"Good Hotel, but not exceptional"
Stayed a week at the hotel while attending a conference at the exhibition centre. It's a good business hotel of international quality, but nothing exceptional.. The rooms are large and comfortable, with a large bathroom with a large walk-in shower and good bath products. The room has a safe which is convenient (but didn't work at first and had to be taken away and repaired), a very comfortable bed with large screen TV (remote control was rubbish) and reasonable wifi, allowing you to have three devices run on the room wifi. The wifi was good enough for me to remote desktop to my office computer. My room had an ok view of the city and the motorway, with a view of the water in the distance. Breakfast was very good, with fresh juice from a DIY juicer, however, not sure why you had to pay extra for an espresso coffee. The hotel bar was OK, but I was shocked when it closed at about 23:00 on a Wednesday night! Hotel is well located with a short walk to Flinders Street and trams. All the staff I came into contact with were friendly and approachable and check in/check out was very efficient and easy. Would I stay here again, if I was attending anything at the exhibition centre I would have no hesitation at staying here. Is it a 'destination hotel', no, but it is a very good business hotel.
We had a great view both day and night from the 14th floor over the river. Great choice of restaurants around the hotel and the coffee shop at the hotel did lovely breakfasts at a quarter of the price of the buffet.
"Handy location top hotel"
We stayed here 3 nights with our daughter, one of only hotels offering a queen and single bed room. The staff were friendly and accommodating and location was great close to shopping and new restaurants and board walk. Definitely recommend!
