"An excellent experience"
My wife & myself arrived to celebrate her 50th Birthday & were given complementary drinks on arrival. The rooms were excellent & the staff team superb. Breakfast was a treat. The location is perfect to get around Venice.
Spacious room with two wall to ceiling windows, giving a lot of natural light. Only a cupboard under the TV to put clothes in, and nowhere to hang coats/jumpers. Beds are very comfortable, with soft pillows. Could have done with a hairdryer in the room. Beds were tall but bery comfortable. Staff were lovely and helpful, although they did try and get us to pay the shuttle boat fee, when we specified we didn't use it. The hotels position may seem a tad inconvenient, but you have a lovely view of the rest if Venice. You can get regular boats between the island and St Marks square/train station from a few hundred meters from the hotel. There is also the hotels shuttle boat between the hotel and St Marks square at the cost of €6.
"Fine dining in Venice"
This Hilton hotel is located on a separate "working man's" island separated from the main Venice islands. Even though a direct shuttle to San Marco square is provided, don't automatically use it. The best dining that my son (who is a professional gourmet chef) and I encountered was on that island down at the vaporetto stop. Try it.
"Upscale hotel but temperature problems"
We were placed here by our cruise line to extend our stay in Venice for two nights. The Molino Stucky is an upscale hotel, but more of a 4 star rather than 5 star. It's located in an industrial area on Giudecca island across the large shipping channel from the main islands where the primary tourist attractions are located. The rooms were well appointed and furnished with luxury style toiletries and bedding, however the reason for my rating is that our room on an upper floor was very hot with no air conditioning. They admitted they don't turn it on until April' We were then given an upgrade to an Executive room on the channel side second floor. It was warm also, but there were two windows we opened. Also, only one restaurant was operating even though they advertise two or more.
"Very poor efficiency on everything "
We checked in one night and lucky we don't stay there another night. The check in progress took over 30 min.. very chaos at the reception , only 2 persons at reception during the peak hour ( around 2pm) and over 10 customers waiting to check in. The reception said can offer me an upgrade with extra 140 Euro to better canal view. While I tried to refuse the first time she kept saying how good will be the upgraded room. Alright , I agree the upgrade and then turned out the room is on the ground floor and over the little window the view was the drop off point of a ferry Pier... sounds of the ferries were very loud when they arrived. With the upgrade room, there are blockage of the bath, and the water is just warm, not hot enough for a proper shower. I don't know why I pay for the upgrade , i complaint to the hotel but they never response . I have been to many Hilton group hotel and this one is so terrible I was totally disappointed! Never ever will go there again
