"Just an okay hotel for the price"
I stayed here for a convention for work. They are very near to the convention center which is ideal, but beward that the convention center is large and depending on where your event is located it can be a far walk. Everyone in the hotel was very friendly that we encountered and helpful. However, the cost of the room was too high for what you get. I paid $700 for a three night stay. If the convention had not chosen this hotel, I would not have stayed there. There is a starbucks in the hotel and a few other places to eat. We ate at the Seafood place and it was pretty good. The rooms were fairly small. The beds were uncomfortable. You could not figure out how to turn many of the lights on. There were also stains on the walls in the bathroom, and the room generally smelled bad (this is typical for NOLA hotels though). I will note that the dirt and stains were not the type that could be blamed on failure to clean. They were the type that the walls needed repainted or carpet replaced. There is a train that goes right by the hotel and blows its horn all hours of the night. Not the hotels fault but something to note. We moved to the Embassy suites for the remainder of the stay, after the convention was over for a much lower rate with free breakfast. I will note that there are many hotels that are closer to the actual convention center at a cheaper cost than this hotel. The river walk with shops is right near the hotel but we did not get to go there. I think if I had paid less for the hotel I would be more inclined to give it a higher rating, but when you pay that much you expect more.
"Great location, but okay hotel."
I was there for a business convention for 3 nights and it was the most miserable sleeping experience, as I was right next to the elevator & heard it all night along! They should have not rooms next to their elevators. Do not stay in room 1848. At check out I informed the representative about my experience and received no apology & she did not seem to care. I travel a lot for business & personal and always stay at Hilton hotels as I am a HH member, and I have never had any problems. However, the hotel is in a great location and next to the Riverwalk, Outlet stores, Dragos, and convention center. It also has a great bar and Drago's in the hotel is amazing!
"It was so so"
Positives: location, delicious restaurant, next to a mall, very accommodating front desk (which is why I ranked an average). Negatives' Problem with the furnace (was given a night off for that), repeated problems with the cable, had to have sheets exchanged due to them having small stains, and that delicious restaurant' Worst service ever!
In NOLA for a business convention. The Hilton Riverview is within walking distance to the convention center. Brock did a tremendous job with customer service, quickly checked us in early. He was personable and professional. Our corner room in building 2 was large. Several large 3-6" stains on the rugs, 1 right adjacent to the bed. The TV, satellite rarely had more than 3-4 stations, with the message no signal. Reported both issues, with little concern about correcting them. I was told to wait til the sun came out for the TV to work, and "good thing we will be renovating" regarding the rug stains. Furniture is scratched, bathroom vanity worn. Not the standard I expect from a Hilton property. Especially given the number of rooms in this city.
Unlike some of the other reviewers, I had a mostly good experience. My room had been double booked, so I got one with a better view as compensation. The staff was friendly, courteous, and competent. The conference rooms were well laid out, and the location is great. You're right next to the Riverwalk Outlet malls, and a mile or so walk through the Riverfront Park to the French Quarter, if that's on your list of things to see and do. It's also about a thousand or so foot walk over to the aquarium, so if you enjoy those, or have small children, it's a great attraction to see as well.
