"Typical Hilton (in a good way)"
My daughter and I stayed here for 2 nights recently. This is a modern hotel with descent sized rooms that appear to have been recently updated. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. They switched my room to accommodate early check in. The lobby is quite small and is very crowded at peak times. The hotel restaurant "RARE" is only OK.
Enjoyed staying here. Previously I've stayed in midtown and uptown, but I really liked staying a bit closer to Chelsea. The hotel is conveniently located - a short walk from Times Square, Penn Station (good for us since we took the train), and Chelsea. As a rewards member I got 2 free bottles of water at check-in which was nice. Hilton has stepped up their game - I got to check-in online the day before and could select my room. I could even have ordered drinks and snacks to be ready on arrival! We had a King room on the 12th floor. I noticed many guests are saying rooms are small. Maybe they haven't stayed in NYC much, but these rooms are very good sized for NYC and the bathroom was HUGE! We were on the street side and it was a bit noisy with horns, but it's NYC so to be expected. This is a solid conveniently located choice for a hotel.
"Wedding Guest Accommodation"
The room block was reserved at the hotel by the bride and groom. It was perfectly adequate, but not special. Morning breakfast in the hotel restaurant was delicious. I found the room and feel of the hotel rather claustrophobic, however staff was considerate and the in house dining was very nice.
Overall we had a very good experience. There was a flood on one of the floors above us and it knocked out the tv cable service for our entire stay. The hotel allowed for a 25% cut on our daily room rate.
"What you would expect from a Hilton hotel..."
Stayed with friends in September for three nights. The rooms are clean, functional and well located in NYC. I would be happy to return. The roof top bar was tremendous with great views of the city. Breakfast was included but we were also given vouchers for a cafe around the corner - in fact we were told that this was a better option than eating at the hotel which proved to be correct. We stayed on the night of the bombing in NYC and the roads were blocked off by police around the hotel so it was extremely difficult to return to our room that night. Of course this was not the hotels fault and the police were doing a great job. On reflection, however, we had no communication from management regarding the bombings or any safety procedures that we should follow.
