"Just your basic hotel"
I didn't love or hate this hotel. I could have done without the 30 parking fee. Also, it was annoying how long it took me to get internet access. They also charged me a pet fee (I didn't have any pets with me) but they did however take care of the fee very quickly. The staff also woke us up both nights we were there. I don't know why but they were yelling at each other through their headsets.
"The best part about it is the location"
While the price was certainly appealing, as was the location, I can't say I love this Hilton. Check-in and -out were easy - the front-desk clerks were great. But some cleanliness issues in my room and in my friend's room (a left-behind Q-Tip and tissue, some random dog hairs and a couple of curls that weren't mine) and a glitch in the restaurant that ended up costing me more than I had planned on spending keep me from giving the hotel an excellent rating. Also, the rooms have very thin walls, and baby sounds are not pleasant for anyone. The hotel proudly touts its Starbucks coffee, BUT in the room, no Starbucks! You can only get it in the Starbucks on the first floor. A bit of a letdown, I must admit. The hotel doesn't have their own airport shuttle service, but they use a company that charges $12 each way. That was a fair price, and the vehicle and driver were wonderful. A little more attention to detail could bump this hotel up a star or two.
Nice hotel and conveniently located. First night had no heat in room and it was the middle of winter, it was very cold in room. Next day had my room switched to another with working heat. The maintenance person who came to look at heating unit was very nice and apologetic. Was a little disappointed that nobody from management or front desk made any attempt to apologize for the inconvenience.
"Do NOT stay at the Marriott"
The Hilton is great. For under $200 a night, it's the best place to stay in SLC. Parking is easy. Rooms are new and modern. Clean and organized. The first night I stayed, I ordered room service from Spencers: Steak and Blue Cheese Wedge. OMG. The steak was cooked to perfection. The bacon completed the dish. For breakfast they have a chef to make you an omelet or eggs. There is a Starbucks in the lobby. Overall, you cannot beat this hotel for the price.
"Great service at the front desk. Got a cool Diamond Upgrade"
The hotel was in a very central location, easy to find and get in/out of. Easy access to restaurants, downtown, interstates. Garage was a bit tight for a larger SUV, but the concierge helped me to ensure it fit.
