I was here for 2 nights over a weekend and had a nice stay. I was upgraded to an executive floor and the breakfast in the executive lounge was very nice. Would have been a nice view of the city if the pollution wasn't so bad. The negatives are: the room AC was poor and the room really heated up in the afternoon sun. The hotel is a bit old and is showing its age in some areas.
"Executive rooms offer great value for money. "
Well worth paying the extra to stay in the executive rooms, which are really nice. The exec lounge gives good value for money and great place to discuss business with clients and colleagues. Staff are extremely friendly and there's a great bar on the 39th floor with live music.
"Only good thing is the location"
Excellent location, I will give you that. I stay 200+ nights a year so I know my hotels. This is a very aged property but still charges similar prices to newer hotels around the area. The executive lounge closes at 9 pm vs. 11 pm at most executive lounges, and the computers there and the business center (which closes at 8 pm) are installed with software that doesn't allow you to download files and restarts automatically after 15 mins. A real business traveler who needs computer access will be severly annoyed. The key card fails all the time and front desk staff says the manufacturer had provided low quality products, but its been months since my last stay and they did not fix the problem. When I see rating for this hotel at 4 stars and in fact many reviewers apparently give it 5 stars, I truly doubt the credibility of the reviews. There is no way this hotel can be 5 stars or 4 stars. 3 stars is about max but for my purpose which is business travel I would give it 1 star. I don't think hotel management is serious about running the hotel properly.
"First class hotel brilliantly located"
The Hilton Shanghai is superbly located in the French Quarter and the facilities and service are excellent. The executive club is far superior to any other Hilton we have been in throughout the world.
"My to-go hotel in Shanghai"
Excellent location. Breakfast buffet is very good and lots of options around the hotel for dinner. Rooms are clean and up to Hilton standards we are used to have. Recommend it for business travelers. Jian Temple has a mall behind and a great supermarket with imported goods. The japonese restaurants in the mall are good.
