"A good hotel after all"
I found puzzling the fact that there are so few hotels from Hilton, Marriott, SPG and IHG networks in Stockholm .Maybe this explains why average chain hotel room prices start at around $250 . So, it is difficult not to be too demanding in Stockholm, I agree. So I guess I was somewhat more demanding at Stockholm's Hilton Slussen! As we checked in we were lucky to be upgraded to a junior suite . Yet, I must confess that room was large but it had a strange configuration and an old appearance. Furthermore, heating/cooling system required technical support late at night. Let me summarize my findings: It is a good hotel in general with some points of excelence :1) views from some rooms (my room number was 7001), from breakfast restaurant and from the executive lounge, were simply astonishing. 2) mattress and bed size...perfect! 3) good executive lounge. 4) Friendly staff. 5) Good breakfast. The hotel also has some flaws: it looks more like a patchwork of added or connecting buildings some with low ceiling and narrow corridors making the atmosphere somewhat oppressing. It has an oudated decoration and my wife and I thought it needs a liftup. It is in a good but not classy area of Stockholm, and it is right in front of a subway station and bus stops. Access turns out to be a minor problem in central Stockholm because the city is rather nicely packed in a small area compared to other big cities and it is very easy to get around by a well planned public transportarion network. Staying ,however near great public transportation options can' be bad, right'
"Average hotel on the perfect location"
We stayed at the Hilton for the weekend. Overall, the hotel was average. Its location is just perfect: right in the vivid area of Slussen, next to a metro station and ferry stop, and a stone's throw from the historic Gamla Stan. Check-in went quickly and efficiently. Friendly and helpful Reception staff. Room and bathroom were very spacious, clean, and with comfy beds and other amenities. Breakfast was lovely - something for everyone. Anything finished on the buffet was replenished immediately. I would stay out of the bar: atmosphere of a cafeteria and very poor service. All in all, I would stay here again if rates aren't to high.
"Great location "
We stayed here for part of our honeymoon and the staff made such a fuss of us when we checked in it was really lovely. We had a room with a view overlooking the river and old town which was really nice and the room was quite spacious and the bed comfortable. The hotel is well located across the road from a main train station and less then 5 minutes walk to the old town. There are lots of lovely restaurants within walking distance.
"Good location, good rooms"
This hotel is 2 minutes walk from the old town in one direction and various office locations in the other, and around half an hour from the airport by taxi. The rooms are a decent size, and they seem to have a theme of hiding things in walls, e.g. The cupboards are hidden in the entry way and open as you pull the wall. The bar downstairs becomes quite busy later into the evenings but there is no noise from it to the rooms at all. Some of the rooms have quite limited views due to being next to other buildings, not offensively bad but not as great as the harbour views on the other side of the building. In the room I would have liked a larger desk/working space instead of the open area, but I appreciate others would prefer the opposite so they've probably found a good middle ground there.
"Good location, clean and quiet"
It's a typical HIlton--clean, and quiet. My only complaint was the cloud of cigarette smoke I had to walk through to get in and out of the hotel. It would be good if they made a designated smoking area away from the door.
