"In the immortal words of those Classic Lager Bier Ads...”Probably the Best 5* Chain Hotel in the World!”"
I’ve had the pleasure to reside at this wonderful establishment on many occasions since it first opened its doors and have always left after an all too brief spell of luxury counting the days until my next visit! LOCATION: It could not be better placed, right in the middle of the upmarket diplomatic neighbourhood, close to the Parliament building and with the Royal Palace less than a five minute walk away! Apparently, this is what’s known as the old city centre. The actual “new” city centre can be reached on foot in less than 10 minutes! The hotel is a 3 minute walk from the well serviced Mauritskade Bus/Tram stop, where a trip to Scheveningen (beach/ harbour), or both main train stations (Centraal & HS) is very straightforward. Centraal Station is a good 15 – 20 minute walk, depending on your pace and how much luggage you are carrying/ dragging! There are many splendid bars and cafés literally on the doorstep of the Hilton, although the bar & dining within the hotel itself are very good. The Spark bar is particularly popular Monday- Friday with the after work crowd! CHECK IN/OUT: Always a seamlessly smooth experience, carried out with courtesy and politeness. The reception staff have always been helpful and attentive to my general enquires/requests. Nothing seems too much trouble for them! ROOM: All the rooms are of a very high decorative standard and are big in size in comparison to other similar Dutch city centre hotels, starting from 31sqm2. The colour tones are soothing and you will find all the modern conveniences that you would expect from a high-end hotel inside. The famous Hilton King beds are a dream and are pure relaxation in themselves! So comfortable, they are hard to get out of in the morning! The large marble bathrooms, with separate bath and shower are both functional and of a very high quality. They come complete with excellent toiletry products. DINING: The cuisine on offer and general ambience at the Peal restaurant are exceptional. The staff are all extremely attentive and customer focussed, like throughout the rest of the hotel. Breakfast is also taken here and is a colossal spread also of a very high quality, with a good variety of hot and cold options to suit all tastes. A glass of sparkling is a nice touch on weekends! A slightly scaled down version can be enjoyed in the professionally run Executive Lounge on the 5th floor, for those with access. The outdoor terrace is a marvellous place in the warmer months to relax over a lazy breakfast or late afternoon chill out with a cool bier and some tasty hot & cold bites! CONCLUSION: Since first visiting back in 2012, The Hilton Den Haag has over the years become my hotel of choice in The Netherlands and I now endeavour to stay about four times per year. Without doubt, the best Hilton that I’ve stayed in, and I’ve clocked up a few in Europe in the past! Angely (The Reception Manager) and her two predecessors have always gone out of their way to ensure that my stay, whether it is just for a single night or longer has always been a pleasant and memorable one! They have always been approachable and friendly, whilst remaining highly professional in their duties. The same can also be said of their diligent colleagues, who give a very good first impression when entering the hotel. In fact, there is a very high ratio of staff to guests throughout the entire hotel. Any minor issues have been dealt with promptly and efficiently. The modern, elegant Hilton is a place where both the business and the leisure traveller can equally feel at home and be guaranteed a truly 5* experience. I recommend checking out The Hilton website for a full list of the facilities on offer including the various room categories. The descriptions and photographs are pretty spot on and there is also a good PDF brochure to download. I’m off again next month! Marvellous!
"Happy at the Hilton The Hague"
Great sleep excellent food and drink. Not too gushy staff just well trained and professional. Perfect for the weary traveler. All staff know their stuff and made my stay pleasent enough to make me want to return again and again.
"Weekend in Den Haag"
A very welcoming and comfortable hotel where we felt very relaxed and happy. We were given a large room that had plenty of wardrobe hanging space and stowage for all our suitcases. It was quiet too which was appreciated, we were in room 353 which is designed for disability as my wife needed a walk in shower rather than a bathtub. All the staff were highly professional in their guest friendly conduct. We enjoyed our stay very much. The restaurant staff were most helpful with our allergy requirements. Well done Hilton!
"Great location - Great service"
Really enjoyed my stay. Asked for a garden facing room to ensure I got a good sleep. Excellent rooms, comfortably furnished, friendly staff. Good location within walking distance of city centre and most attractions. Will stay again.
