Excellent value for money - rooms clean and modern, not luxurious but very comfortable.Comment of M. Gillian , United Kingdom the 2014-05-12
Excellent value for the London area even if it is a bit far out. This is a new and very good Holiday Inn Express hotel. The hotel is fairly new, and is therefore in very good condition. Ambiance, decor and furnishing in the rooms and public areas are pleasant and modern. Rooms are very spacious and nicely furnished with large double beds (: good linen, soft and hard pillows :), seating area, a nice spacious work desk, LCD TV, good lighting, coffee making facilities and nice carpeting. The bathrooms are very nice. My absolute favorite is the shower which looks good with the black tiles and white grooves and has amongst the best water flow/pressure and temperature stability / control. Great stuff! Elevators are spacious and in good shape. The hotel provides a complimentary breakfast for all guests and this also more than adequate with beans, scrambled eggs, sausages, fruit, yoghurt, pain-au-chocolat, croissants, a selection of cereals, bread-butter-jam, coffee, milk etc. Good enough for me! The staff are very pleasant and helpful + house keeping is reliable and efficient. The hotel also has a drinks & coffee bar, a kitchen which serves lunch and dinner up to 2230 HRS, and an separate onsite Italian restaurant called Tratts. I haven't tried the kitchen or Tratts so far but I see a lot of guests do and seem to be enjoying it. This is a very good hotel and excellent value for money in the London area. Highly Recommended.Comment of P. Harsha , Switzerland the 2014-05-10

"Almost ashamed to be British"
It was the first time I had used this hotel having eschewed a special rate at the hotel where the conference was being held as a result of my loyalty to IHG but it will be a long time before I go back. Why' The check in (as a gold card holder) was fine but once I arrived at the room I could smell it wreaked of smoke which someone, presumably in the room service team, had attempted t mask using a spray. Everything stunk of smoke including the bedding. Problem was made worse by the fact that the windows are completely sealed so no fresh air! I decided to be stoic as it was only for one night so headed of down to the restaurant. The hotel was very busy filled seemingly with citizens from all over the world so you would have thought that clear instructions would be a good idea. But sadly not. The reason for their need is that I have eaten in many HIE 'restaurants' which usually entails checking out the menu, then ordering and paying at the bar. Not the same system at this hotel. Firstly I joined a queue of diners waiting to go into the restaurant only t be told when reaching the front of the queue that I had to pay at the bar first and being the receipt to be allowed to find a table. This done, the search for a clean, clear table was a real challenge with then staff seemingly unable to keep up. The meal was a help yourself from the buffet which started OK thanks to the remnants of a sort of salad and a couple of dressings. The meal went down from there as the range of food for the main course choice consisted of 3 items. I chose the fish and chips. The tray holding the crumbed, fried fish portions was nearly empty with only random pieces left. They were wafer thin pressed portions in a nice shade of grey! Chips at least were edible. Dessert consisted of a choice of apple and sultana tart or a kind of sponge cake but the portions were so small it had gone before I could identify which was which. All this joy for around £12 + drinks. Given the hotel is adjacent to a major entry point into the UK, I felt quite ashamed that this was the standard they were greeted with. My advice is try the pizzeria (although it had a 50 minute waiting time the night I was there) or cross the road to the M&S Simply Food shop! Just had to suffer the smokey room then and await a glorious HIE breakfast.
"Overnight stay before flight"
This hotel is more well thought out than most 4 star plus hotels we have stayed in while visiting London. The room was spacious and met all of our requirements for an overnight stay. It was very clean and modern and finally a hotel with adequate lighting over a full length mirror!! It also had the hairdryer positioned in a sensible place unlike many hotels. There is a bar (open until 11.30) and a complimentary breakfast that was good, offering both hot and cold buffet breakfast. The free coffee was awful, but the bar sold Costa as an alternative. My only complaint would be how cold the room was. Even with the heat cranked up for most of the night did the room reach almost warm. Would return if we required a hotel before flying from Terminal 5 again.
"Just the job for traveling from Heathrow"
This not the first time I have stayed here but the only time that I have reviewed it. The service at the desk was excellent and the room was clean, wwarm and inviting. The Italian restaurant on site was good too. Breakfast was included in the price -continental! ,( don't expect bacon!!!
The levels of understanding simple English were poor near non existent. Bar staff not good. 2 young girls. Bar food quality was poor. Chef can't cook a medium rare steak. My room was bad. They had sprayed with a masking smell agent to hide something. During the night I awake to a smell of very bad damp. I was kept awake all night. I refused to pay. They also charge £10 to park.
"Does what it says on the tin."
I made reservations on the IHG website and everything was in order upon check in. The process was quick and efficient. The rooms were well equipped and had everything you would expect in them. The shower was good and the room was quiet. The breakfast was more than adequate. The two coffee machines are aging, it would be a good idea to have a look at them, but otherwise everything was fine. There's a 24 hour convenience store across the street, which is handy. Housekeeping was great. We were satisfied with our stay.
