This hotel is situated directly beside the beach (around 100 m away). The town centre with bars and restaurants can be found in the immediate vicinity. The resort is just 15 minutes from Los Cabos International Airport and 25 minutes from Cabo San Lucas and the Natural Arch.

I really enjoyed myself at the hotel!!! service was really nice, Christian, the place was beautiful with 3 pools for everyone. I liked how you can eat all day, im a foodie!! The buffet was decent the A La Cart hut was even better. I had fries every day and ice cream!! Again Beautiful scenery!! all the bars was wonderful and nice. My fav was laying out at the activity pool and playing games then some nights they had some theme entertainment. No Harassing here to do be active in the activity. DO THE BIKE RIDE the resort offers for free!
"The people make up for the shortcomings "
It is a three star and thus the reason for the rating. The hotel has two main eating areas although they make an open buffet on the terrace twice per week. Let start by the rooms. We upgraded since the superior room we booked gave us a room with a viewless balcony. The room needed serious upgrading. I recommend the rooms first or second floor with ocean view. But be careful where it's located. Anything near the terrace means you are bombarded with a show or event each night from 19-21:00 hours. The hotel needs a very serious facelift (furniture is tattered and tiles are often missing in the bathrooms) but the beds are comfortable the pillows are a bit too foamy for my taste but they are ok. The food is ok but the limited number of places to eat makes it a bit difficult in choices. Breakfasts are most definitely the best meal. They offer theme nights like Italian or Asean but it's all got a Mexican taste to all of them. There are three main pools spread throughout the property. One is reserved for adults only and is the quietest and warmest (they heat some pools) of all of them. Each has its own bar area and drinks do flow easily. What makes this hotel exceptional is the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. There is always a good morning and pleasant chats made up of genuine interest in you and where you come from. Wherever you are in the property, the service is fast and pleasant. The beach is very course sand and too abrupt for swimming. It's a nice looking beach but hard on the hips and feet to walk on. Located at about a 30 minute walk to San Jose del Cabo, it is a pleasant walk to the Mega (now La Comer) or other shops. Taxis are very expensive but local bus transport is both save and very inexpensive. Highly recommended. From the airport to the hotel, be careful of free food or tour offers from time share sales people. We met a few couples who were driven to tears from the pressure tactics they use once they have you captive to sell you time share. Just say 'no'. You will save yourselves much grief. We found the evenings and mornings much cooler than anticipated so pack some long pants and a sweater or jacket. They will come in handy. Thus the reason for a 3 star is the quality of the hotel the limited eating opportunities on the property. Would I go back' If the price is right ....maybe.
"Friendly; Economical; Comfortable"
This is a well managed and honestly run economy resort. It's in an interesting and convenient location close to the estuary/bird sanctuary; it's a 15 minute walk to downtown San Jose, close to local bus service and the Le Comer (Mega) shopping complex. I was looking for a comfortable; inexpensive base for my travels in the Los Cabos area and the Holiday Inn was a perfect fit. I was in an outlying building near the Children's Pool, in a Garden View (cheapest) room. While a bit worn in places it was large; clean; well maintained and even had a partial view of the ocean. Personally I liked the waist-high concrete wall on the balcony because it afforded privacy that the second and ground floor patios did not (while the hammocks on the ground level suites were nice, in my opinion they are too close to public walkways. In a week I only saw hammocks used twice). My suite did not have a fridge (which I expected, having read other reviews here). It was not an issue for me because I wasn't in the room all that much and there's a nearby ice machine. My advice would be if you need one, negotiate it in advance. Noise wasn't a problem at all except for the a/c which was quite loud (although it worked very well). But as the evenings were cool during my trip, I didn't have to use it much. I can see it would be an issue in the summer. The only real issue I had with the room was that the door would stick and had to be pulled shut (wouldn't close automatically) and the security latch was broken. Within 10 minutes of reporting it to the front desk a maintenance worker was at my room. He replaced the latch immediately but said they couldn't fix the door until the next day. The front desk called back to confirm a time for repair mid-morning of the next day, which was done exactly as promised. I was satisfied and impressed. Safety concerns are dealt with at once. The food was fine. Face it, it's a large commercial kitchen catering to hundreds of guests. The buffet tried to vary it's menus (Mexican; Asian; Italian: American; etc) but I could see after 2 weeks it would become very repetitive. The a la carte beach restaurant/bar was good, also with a limited menu. Of the beef/chicken/fish selections, fish was usually the best bet. They do offer better cut of beef and lobster for additional cost but I didn't try them. The staff was the best part of the experience; overwhelmingly cheerful and polite (even the worst was civil and correct). The front desk personnel were helpful and courteous-a special nod to the charming Sebastien of Guest Services. The beach is not swimmable, like the other hotel beaches along this coast. The three pools are fine, though small-two have swim-up bars. Again, for my needs it was all perfectly adequate. The grounds and gardens were beautiful and very well maintained. I have no problem recommending this property to economy travellers; I would certainly return if I'm back in the Los Cabos area.
"San Jose first timers and 'Loved' the Holiday Inn Resort"
The Holiday Inn Resort has (in my opinion) great staff, comfortable rooms, beautiful views and a wide choice of food and beverages. My one disappointment was the coffee! Mexico produces wonderful coffee but it seemed not to be used here.. The resort grounds include a variety of cacti and many are identified with signs. Even the courtyard areas within the complex are landscaped with a variety of palms, cacti and succulents. There are grassed areas sprinkled throughout and the overall landscaping provides a wonderful setting for the pools, restaurants and hotel. If you love to beach walk this is a great place to do that. The crash of the waves with their resulting spray creates a fantastic scene whether you travel up or down the beach. Very iffy for swimming or boarding due to undertow. The Estero on the border of the resort grounds is an exciting visit for nature lovers and provides a welcome green space in its natural form. The Holiday Inn Resort supports a protect and release Turtle Program which is wonderful. (Babies hatching and being released many days of our stay.) This is the largest resort in terms of rooms and ground space that we have visited and having the expansive area meant that we never felt crowded. Very nicely planned. Entertainment choices were a touch limited and we would have liked to listen to a 'lot' more Mexican music during the day. Sometimes there were overlap areas in the sound and pop music mixed with 50's crooners was a little jarring. If you are a diver or snorkeler, East Cape Explorers is a short taxi trip or an hour walk and well worth visiting. They treated us extremely well. Also worth mentioning is the Artisan night on Thursday in San Jose's town centre--artistic talent there will simply leave you in awe. I wish so much I had been brave enough to bring an art piece back on the plane.. Would I return to the Holiday Inn Resort-absolutely. We booked our trip through Expedia and everything from our flights to our room choice was fabulous.
"Basic All Inclusive"
Second all inclusive trip this year. Our first was at Barcelo in April. I've got to say we will never return to the Holiday Inn. The employees work hard and are for the most part very helpful and pleasant. Unfortunately, the housekeeping was sub par. They were inconsistent each day. We did not have items replace or replenished the same through out our stay. And the room was not clean. Food was mass made and cold most of the time. The cocktails were undrinkable and we ended up purchasing our own alcohol and mixers from the store. Location is great. You can walk to anything you may need. The beach is uncrowded and beautiful. Very helpful with fish we caught. They have a big chest freezer to store your fish till you leave.
