We spent 5 days in this resort. Great location because it is at the end of the hotel zone. The 2 restaurants served good food. One had table service the other was buffet for all 3 meals. We loved the expansive beach which just went on and on. There were volleyball tournaments played all day starting at 8am and ending at dark on the beach. Horseback riding is available for $20 for 40 mins. This hotel property is next to the San Jose Del Cabo Estuary which is an added plus for it's location. We spent our days at the "Adults Only" pool that has a bar. Rooms are very clean and the beds were some of the most comfortable I've been in. The section of the rooms we had included hammocks on every patio. It's a older hotel but it's very clean and updated. We would definitely stay here again. We wished we could had stayed 2 extra days.
"Great meals and drinks"
I gave this place a 3 out of 5 because we weren't too happy with rooms or reception desk. We (4 couples) booked 4 ocean front lanais in June of 2016 through Apple. The Apple rep was supposed to make arrangements so our rooms were all close to each other. When we arrived we were told they didn't have 4 ocean front lanais available and we were spread out. We all were given pool side lanais. One in our group asked a room service guy if they were full and he said no only about 50%. We all complained that this isn't what we paid for and they said we could check back in the morning for possible rooms. Our room 1132 smelled horrible. They have some septic issues for sure! The next morning they gave us a choice of another room that was next to their stage area and a group with about 6 small children next door. We decided to stay at our room because of that. However we did go to an OXXO gas station and bought a bottle of Lysol to pour in the drains in the shower and bathroom. We also put the garbage can over the floor drain and that seemed to help a little. We didn't stay in the room much except to sleep and sit on the lanai. We faced the quiet zone pool which was fine but no music allowed. Too bad since I had my iPod loaded with fun music. Us girls like to dance! I wouldn't say it's all inclusive either. No beer in the fridge unless you wanted to pay for it. Any type of room service was at cost - delivery charge. The drinks were very good though and so was the food! Very polite bar tenders and wait staff. Room service was hit or miss. We went some days with no bottled water, no TP stocked and most days without a hand or face towel. Lighting in the bathroom was very dim. The beach is huge. No swimming but we had a great time. Saw some newly hatched sea turtles, a small squid a sting rays jumping in the water.
"Family of 9. Kids 15,14,13,11&9"
Pros- 1) Pictures don't do hotel justice. Way more modern & up to date than they look online. Rooms are clean & very nice. Pretty landscape, and palm trees. 2) Beach beautiful - can play volleyball, throw footballs, baseballs, play in edge of ocean, make sand castles 3) Restaurant by ocean you can order great food. Fries, tacos, homemade pizzas, shrimp, ice cream, salads, pasta, burgers, hotdogs, 4) Activities by pool all day! Ping pong table, foos ball, volleyball net in water, kids pool w/slide. Swim up bar in kids and activity pool. In town Wild Canyon has endless activities. Snorkeling tour was ok not a lot of fish but boat was fun. Online says pool closes early but kids swam at dark and they allowed it. 5) Tennis courts & basketball courts. Do have to have tennis shoes on. 6) Breakfast was awesome! Make your own omelette's, eggs, pretty much any food you want. 7) friendly staff Cons- 1) no hot tub 2) lighting in rooms and bathroom terrible 3) Can't swim in Ocean 4) no wait staff at pool side 5) food at buffet not very good. However have said that there is so much food you will find something you like. 6) 20 minute cab ride to San Lucas. about 40 one way. However they have wonderful food and shops. 7) can walk to San Jose but not much to do and food not great. However can get Star Bucks. Great kids Place!!!!
"Fairly Disappointed After A Week-Long Stay With Small Children"
We spent a full week here (Monday to Monday) with two small children. On the up side: ∙ The hotel is clean. ∙ It is suitable for children. ∙ Hotel staff is friendly. ∙ The swimming pools are okay. On the down side: ∙ The food is mediocre and needs more variety. Eating the same limited food for more than a few days gets old and boring fast. ∙ The selection of alcoholic beverages is very limited with no mixed drinks and nothing more fancy than Bacardi rum. ∙ There is no hot tub. ∙ There are no activities except water aerobics. ∙ There is no safe beach nearby, so no fun at the beach. ∙ The spa massage was poor quality. We may have been more disappointed than most because our travel agent screwed up our plans. She had reserved us an all inclusive stay at the Estancia in Cabo San Lucas, but a few days before departure she said it’s no longer all inclusive there. So although we had paid to stay at the Estancia with all inclusive meals, the travel agent booked us into this hotel instead, but didn’t offer any compensation to make up for the big drop in quality.
We stayed here to celebrate an anniversary and birthday. Only stayed 2 nights, had stayed before when it was El Presidente. We did pay for all inclusive but only ate breakfast or lunch there and it's adequate. We love to stay close to old town San Jose and it fits the bill. It's close enough to walk. We always eat dinner in town. The Holiday Inn is clean, love the hammocks to relax in and it's right on the beach. We will stay there again.!
