"Comfortable hotel for business trips"
After my second visit to this hotel I can honestly say that the accomodation and the cathering is also perfect. The rooms are comfortable, clean, spacious and very silent. You can rest after a long day of business meetings or training session. There is separate bath tub and shower, a minibar that is for a charge, ironing facility. The continental breakfast is good variety, with salmon and smoked tuna also :) The staff is helpful and friendly. As for a surprise, on the day of Baba Marta (1st of March) all the guests received a Martenitsa :)
"Efficient and cleen"
Our stay was very nice as hotel staff were helpful and efficient. Checkin and checkout was quickly done. Free wifi in the room was good. Enjoyed the breakfast though it's same items every day. Hotel in business park so nothing to see. Nearest convenience store 345 was about 15 min walk from opposite the hotel. Nearest Metro station was in the same direction as the convenience store. Overall nice stay though quite far from city Centre. Will stay here again if back for business. Otherwise will prefer to stay at city Centre for easy access to food and restaurants.
"Mixed Bag for IHG"
This Holiday Inn wasn't my first choice and my boss lamented the decision to use a cheaper IHG selection after the fact and here is why. First, the good- rooms are clean and the people are friendly enough. As much so as you'd expect from a typical former eastern bloc country... The decore is inviting and warm in the building. However a quick look outside and you quickly realize the struggles people here face on a day to day basis. The reality isn't very bright for most. Taking this into consideration, I still need internet connectivity to work. Even the free IHG member internet speeds are fine, but 50% connectivity at best is about what I am experiencing, as I write this using my not so cheap 4G LTE connection. Food is ample, and properly prepared, but I'll write a separate review of the restaurant. Shuttle service to and from the airport is very good, fair priced and highly recommend, unless you are comfortable with the metro, it is the only way to go. TV - the television is a 17" square box with many American channels. However, nearly every channel is broadcast with Bulgarian overdubbing, making it annoying, or entertaining depending on ones level of alcohol intoxication, but useless nonetheless. Housekeeping is largely without remark. That is a good thing I suppose. Compared to many "high end" hotels in Africa it is stellar service (you don't have to put your toothbrush and mouthwash in the safe to keep housekeeping from using them). Ok, the real reason I won't stay here again. Though people are friendly they also do not go out of their way to help you either. i.e. #1 When I asked the front desk if I could get several bottles of still water in my room when they refill the mini bar, I was advised NO, flat out! The the burden is deflected back to me by advising me - sure you can call room service. You are the manager can you not direct your staff and charge my bill accordingly' You did charge $1600 to my card when I checked in... 2. My laundry was delivered missing 3 garments but with receipts showing everything checked off. A quick call to the front desk reveals again that I bear the responsibility to correct the issue. Please call back tomorrow morning and we can discuss with the laundry service. Ok, so write that off. Glad I brought extra socks... 3. I advised the front desk another time that I'd like to checkout 2 days early and they seemingly took this as a personal insult. My business is done here, I need to go. That was not OK. I was advised again that I bear the responsibility to make this happen, as I used a corporate booking agency to make the reservation. I know this and I also know that I do not have to use them to change the reservation if I need to leave quickly for some reason. Next time I will use Hotel Sofia - there is a reason it is 30% more cost. -J
I stayed only once in Holiday Inn, but the experience will always remain. The rooms are big and spacious, clean and tidy. Fully equipped bathroom with an amazing bathtub. It has a spa - indoors pool, spa and hot tubs. It's located next to the Business Park, which is great, because there are a lot of cafes, restaurants and space to take a walk or just relax.
"Close to business center"
I have had chosen Holiday Inn as the fact that I am not really winter person and it was close to the office, in fact it's located directly at Business park and took me only 5 min to walk to the office. To describe the Hotel, I'd be using only superlatives. The room is spacious and cosy, well decorated. The dark color of furniture gives kind of luxury feeling and really love light in the wardrobe. Bathroom looks new and bathtub and shower are available separately as you would be expecting from 5 starts hotel. Stuffs were extremely friendly and after few days, they remember you (especially your preferences for breakfast). That is appreciated, because the service they provide is not standardised, but personalised. Although there would be few things, which I'd like to highlight. The TV is quite small and it has still the old resolution 4:3, and placed on the table, but it's flat. I would expect it from 3 starts hotel, for 5 starts I would expect flat screen place on the wall 16:9 and at lest 26-28 inches. Even thought the hotel is located not directly in the city center, but there are cheap way to get to the Downtown, taxi (10-15leva) or metro (1.6leva). If I come back to Sofia in the future, I would stay in The Hotel again.
