"Very expensive for what you get, not so magical"
I have stayed at the legendary Disney hotels in Orlando, which were amazing, but the HK Disney Hotel is not it. The outside of the hotel and lobby look amazing but the hallways and rooms are very tired. We paid $3400 hkd for a deluxe with balcony and that was after gold card discount. The rooms are small and the balcony is tiny. They knew we had two children but only one child robe and slipper were there when we arrived. They do give you complimentary water and tea which is nice. The pool was huge and they supply towels and life jackets if needed. The kids loved the slide but they will NOT let you go down with the children on your lap so don't even think about it. Safety concerns. It is crazy. The walk to the park from the hotel is about ten to fifteen minutes. By the time you shuttle or drive over and walk in it is best to just take the walk around the back. It is lovely. The enchanted garden restaurant food is excellent and you get to meet the characters. Usually Mickey, Goofy and Pluto. We were disappointed not to see the villains out for Halloween. The cost was about $1,000 hkd for the four of us after discount so it does not come cheap. The storytime was a huge disappointment. English reading was 815 pm so we made the choice to miss the fireworks (8 pm) to let the kids have the reading thinking it would be done by a princess or character. It was sadly only done by Tommy, a kid that works at the playroom. Shame on you Disney. So all in the hotel is tired, dated, and just not magical enough to command the steep prices to stay there. You would be better offer paying that kind of money and staying at the Mandarin, Peninsual or the Four Seasons in Central!
"A truely magical experience"
I traveled with my sister's family with 3 small kids. It's a true magical experience for them upon arriving at the hotel. The concierge is always so generous in giving out stickers that delight the little ones. We were given a connecting room. The bed is big and could sleep 2 adults (Asian size) on each bed. We were greeted by 5 balloons in each room and it feels like we were having a party. Rooms are clean and there are 4 pillows on each bed. Only complain is that the pillows are too soft to my liking. The kettle is sparkling new and clean and there are plastic cups for the little ones too. The breakfast in the Enchanted Garden is awesome! The Disney Characters will come by every table to meet and greet the little ones. There is no need to rush to get their attention. Breakfast buffet spread is good and there is also a corner for basic Indian and Japanese food. Its a pity we were hit by the Typhoon warning and couldn't visit the park on the 2nd day. My booking is of a special package and the hotel is not able to refund my park tickets. We managed to spend more time at the breakfast table and gift shop. Yes, I'll come back again if budget allows. There is no need to go to Disneyland. Staying in this hotel is already a magical experience.
"Great place for visiting Disneyland"
The hotel is located within the Disneyland campus and makes it very convenient to visit the Park. There is complementary shuttle service to the park which is great. What is most attractive is the dinner and breakfast with the characters which the kids would love. There are a lot of activities for the kids including the pool, story telling, play area etc. Overall a memorable stay indeed
"Average Hotel, Minimim Facilities, Overcrowded"
For a Disneyland Hotel, one would have thought the experience is akin to it's Park. Despite the not-so-magical price of each room in the hotel and where everything is chargeable, the hotel is tired and rooms are similarly dated. Apart from it's close proximity to Disneyland and the free shuttle, one can certainly look for a hotel which is better in terms of value in mainland HK. A quick train ride from Kowloon or Wan Chai will bring you to Disneyland directly and you do get better worth your money. Well, unless you simply got to Meet The Disney Characters Mayham during breakfast in the hotel.
"Perfect for the kids and going to Disneyland"
TLDR Stayed here 2 times already. It's a very nice hotel and the rooms are well kept. It's perfect for the family if you are just planning to go to Disneyland and not anywhere else in Hong Kong. Getting There: From the airport you can take a taxi or take the airport train then transfer to take the Disneyland Train, but the station transfer is bit hard with luggage so you may want to just take the easy route and take a cab. The train is special with Disney memorabilia and has a Disney livery but aside from that its just a train, and you will still have to walk from the HKDL train station to the hotel, or wait for the hotel bus. Accommodations: From the moment your kids enter the hotel they will be in paradise. Every detail is according to Disney design and even the adults will feel like kids again. They can watch cartoons while their parents check in or go to the boutique and see all the toys and clothes. Even the lowest room categories are very spacious with 2 beds and little Disney amenities. You can even opt to have the room decorated for a special occasion like a birthday or get a special guest to pass by at night and say hello. Disney movies play all day long on the TV. I mean does it get any better than this' Food: Yes it does. For breakfast you must eat at the Enchanted Garden Restaurant, every day. Trust me. The food is good but really its all about the different characters coming to your table and greeting your kids, they will remember this for the rest of their lives when they had breakfast and met Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy and Goofy all at the same time. The various characters go through the restaurant and have handlers who make sure guests get their turn to greet and take pictures and ask other guests to go back to their seats and wait until the mascots get to their table. The food is the same every day but your kids will have a different interaction with the Disney characters all the time. It is worth the spend. The breakfast at Walt's Cafe upstairs is for those without kids and those who want quiet time, its much less and more American Breakfast style. I'll say it again, have breakfast at the Enchanted Garden restaurant and be a hero to your kids. Their cakes and pastries are also very good. If you are celebrating a birthday, order a 1lb cake in advance and you will have something so delicious the adults will be the ones finishing the cake. I couldn't say much for the in-room dining or dinner as we ate the rest of our meals at the theme park. Activities: Go to Disneyland duh. The main reason to stay here is that HongKong Disneyland is 1-2 hours from Hong Kong island and will cost you in time and taxi money just to get there if you are staying in another hotel. When you spend 1-2 days at the theme park, you want to get there, do everything and just go home and sleep after. If you stay at the Disneyland Hotel, you can literally just walk back to the hotel after the fireworks. Your kids will most likely be spent and will go right to sleep, and so will you. Most guests do not use the pool, there is an indoor and outdoor pool but for some reason the outdoor pool was always under maintenance when we stayed. The indoor pool is big and since no one uses it you can have it all to yourselves. There is a maze garden in the middle of the hotel and its a nice activity to get your kids running around and playing hide and seek. There is also a kids club where they can do some activities. The Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique where you can make your little girls into princesses is a bit too expensive for my tastes. If want, just go to the store and buy your little girl a princess dress to take home and wear. The quality of the princess dresses have dropped though since they opened in 2006, I think they had cheaper dresses made to make them more affordable. Conclusion: Every time we come here with the family for Hong Kong Disneyland we are staying here. In 2 days you can ride everything and have great stay, no need to take a 1 hour cab in traffic back to a hotel on Hong Kong island or Kowloon. Your kids will remember this when they grow up.
