I love this hotel and many of my colleagues who we arrange rooms here for, do too. The staff are lovely and it has a wonderful, modern yet typically swiss feel. It is a basic hotel and the rooms are small but it's great and very well placed being very close to the station and metro. Breakfast is great too with a fabulous view of the Alps from the rooftop. Couple of things to note: The room numbers are woven into the carpet (they can be difficult to find if you don't know!) The bathroom wall is a bit transparent so watch out who you're sharing with! There is no mini bar but an honesty bar in the seating area of reception. You can get a snack there too which is handy since all the restaurants close quite early.
We stayed for three nights at this hotel on a family visit. The staff were helpful without being intrusive. The room was small but well laid out out and had a modern feel in keeping with the hotel's overall style. Very convenient for the train station in Lausanne and the Grancy metro station. Lausanne is a beautiful city and the Olympic Museum on the lake at Ouchy should not be missed. Good base for visits to Geneva or other cities and villages on lake Geneva.
"Great mix of traditional Swiss and modern stylish design in a great central location"
Small but very well planned rooms, with modern stylish design mixed with traditional Swiss Alps style. Great central location and affordable parking in the basement garage. Great selection at the breakfast buffet.
"Small, stylish and clean"
Stayed for two nights while on business. Small hotel that is very pleasant. Excellent location, very close to train station and town centre. Staff were very nice, room was comfortable. Didn't have breakfast but the restaurant on the roof looks amazing.
"Quirky modern hotel"
The Agora Swiss Night is a chic and modern hotel just a few minutes' walk from the main train station of Lausanne. It is quirky, but in a chic and functional way: rather than feeling like a bland chain hotel, it feels cosy and comforting. Everything is very well designed to be extremely functional, yet look good, and every piece of furniture had clearly been picked to fit with the feel of the room and add to the overall design, right down to the last detail. The result is something that is elegantly minimalistic yet homely and warm. I stayed in a single room, which was small yet didn't feel at all cramped. The bathroom walls were made of glass with a frosted design on, so that the room retained spaciousness, yet also bathroom privacy. The bed was very comfortable and and quite large for a single. A nice touch was that there were international sockets for both Europe and the UK, so no need for clunky adaptors. Also appreciated was the iron and ironing board: so crucial when travelling for business, yet so often absent in hotels. In terms of facilities, there is no bar or restaurant, but there is a small fridge in reception with various drinks and snacks, and an 'honesty box' for payment, as well as a minibar in the room. There is a small fitness centre with sauna and relaxation area. However be warned that the treadmill cannot be used until after 9am, which means that you will need to face the cold and the brutal hills for that early morning run (although the view over Lake Geneva from Ouchy is definitely worth it... but the name is appropriate after running back up the long steep hill to the hotel). The breakfast room looks incredibly impressive from the photos, but I have to admit that at more than CHF20 for breakfast, I passed on the opportunity to admire the view and opted for cereal bars from the local Coop instead. One small niggle is that the wifi was quite slow at times, which was problematic for working in the evening; however this was really my only complaint. Overall, I found the hotel to be very slick and well designed, managing to combine elements of traditional Swiss culture together into a form that conveyed the country's heritage whilst being modern, attractive, and not at all cliched. It was comfortable yet pleasingly simplistic in functionality, and felt surprisingly homely. I would certainly recommend this hotel both to business travelers and to those coming to Lausanne for a holiday or short break.
