"Small, odd hotel that was not a very good value for the money"
This was the third hotel I stayed during a recent trip to Berlin. I didn't select it for myself, but my hosts did, and picked up the tab. I'm sure they paid far too much for the room I was assigned-- tiny, cramped, under the eaves. The bed was too soft, and the pillows were as flat as pancakes (I needed four to get the minimum support I needed in order to be comfortable). The staff were a bit diffident and did not allow me to check in an hour early. The internet did not work properly (and for much of my stay, not at all) in my room. Because of the sloping ceiling, the shower stall was so small, I didn't feel comfortable taking a shower. Last, there is no fitness room to speak of-- one tiny room in the basement with a mat, a balance ball, a few free weights, perhaps an old treadmill and rudimentary stair-stepper. It was not really useable as a gym, so I had to pay €19 and go around the corner to use the very fine FitnessFirst for Women. The breakfast buffet was small and hot food and coffee not good. Of the three hotels in which I stayed, I found this one the most expensive and the least satisfactory. I would request to be allowed to stay elsewhere if I am invited back to Berlin by my hosts.
"Nice and clean!"
Had a pleasant stay at this hotel. The staff were very nice, the room clean and confortable. The location is absolutely unbeatable, is at walking distance to the main importants sites to visit. I definitly recommend this hotel.
"Matter-of-fact design + superb convenience"
There are no frilly, glossy pretensions to hip modernism or middling luxury here, but everything is solid and left a satisfying impression. We found it a terrific value for such a central location: a minute by foot to the main boulevard artery (Karl Liebknecht Strasse), another minute to the Berliner Dom and the Museumsinsel. Moreover the hotel itself is situated on a small side-street that ensures a quiet, restful stay. Berlin can be quite loud with its many aboveground U-Bahn lines but you'd never know it in this hotel. Nice breakfast choices w/ an impressive selection of teas you can brew in a personal teapot you take to your table -- a comfy touch. We'd happily return. Quick meal tip: the Japanese udon place across the street is really great!
"A real gem in the heart of Berlin"
A 3-night stay in early September, we had a room on the 6th floor at the top of the hotel. The hotel is in a great location - within walking distance of many of the tourist attractions, plus plenty of restaurants and bars nearby. The staff were efficient, pleasant and knowledgeable. Breakfast was a self-service buffet with plenty of fruit, cereals, juice, cold meats and cheese, plus a small selection of hot food (eggs, sausages, bacon, etc). Highly recommend this hotel for it's location in the heart of Berlin.
"Nice hotel "
We stayed for 5 days in August it was a great location for local attractions and the train and subway to take you to less expensive areas of the city. The room was big and comfortable and the bathroom was nice too. The staff spoke good English which I was pleased about as my German was very rusty!! I would recommend this hotel to people looking for a central break in Berlin.
