"Excellent location but in need of an interior update"
The location of the hotell is really good in the middle of the city in walking distance to all the major sights. You call tell that the have not updated the interior for a bit too long but it is ok. The breakfast is average but nice and friendly staff is a good thing. Recommended if you plan to spend most of your time outside of the hotell.
"Central location next to Dam Square"
Just a stones throw from Dam Square, so not necessarily the prettiest part of Amsterdam but certainly central and within easy reach (walkable) to the vast majority of attractions. Restaurant under renovation at time of visit but rooms are very clean and comfortable, although reasonably compact (pretty standard for a major European city). As mentioned, even the internal facing rooms can be a tad noisy, but again, not unusually so for this class of hotel in Europe. Hopefully, you will be allocated a room with considerate neighbours, otherwise, light sleepers may well have a disturbed night's sleep. All in all, a good choice with very helpful staff.
Stayed 3 nights in a superior room. Very clean, warm and surprisingly quiet, given the location. Reception staff helpful and courteous. Room had everything and more. Only slight complaint would the renovations going on to the restaurant and reception. I wasn't pre warned about this when booked through the agent and I feel a discount should have been added because of this.
"Nice surprise in the center of Amsterdam...."
I had a meeting during the weekend in the center of Amsterdam and that´s always an adventure. How to park my car and is the quality of the hotel at least the amount of money worth' After quit disappointing visits at so called 5 star hotels in the Netherlands (see my earlier reviews) last december, I was a little skeptical. However, I was totally surprised when I entered this hotel. First off all you can park your cars easily in the Q Park Bijenkorf, 150 meter near the hotel or use the special carpark nearby (30 euro reduction fee by the reception). Put the name Rokin in your carnavigator, because Amsterdam center is always under construction. Okay, the hotel: the staff is the most friendly staff I encountered this month.... Very willing to help and fully focused on helping customers and believe me that´s not standard in this region..... They really made my stay starting very well. The room was spacious and clear, the beds is good, the bathroom simple. It was winter and freezing, so the crowd outside (tourists eg) are staying, so first floor is not a problem. But I during summer lower floors are having trouble with noise from outside, so keep in mind (but that´s everywhere in the center of Amsterdam....). Breakfast is excellent and the restaurant is a little outdated, but nice (will be renovated soon). So overall, this was an excellent stay in the center, nice priced, good quality of service. Will be back again.
my partner booked this hotel due to the hotels location being central and a 4* rating. When we arrived too the room it was much smaller than the photos displayed and both me and my partner struggled too fit our luggage bags together. Our "double bed" was in fact two single beds, simply pushed together... and two thin blankets provided...4*' Really' I've worked in a 3*/4* hotels and even they provide some sort of cover to avoid you slipping between the two mattresses, which me and my partner did several times. The bathroom was small and within minutes the whole small area was filled with water, although they provided some kind of mop to remove the water, I do not expect to have to do this on holiday. - what bothers me is I asked if the hotel was busy upon arrival, and the receptionist replied that they weren't, however it seems like we were put in a last resort room! Too top it off, my watch was taken/ stolen whilst I was out for breakfast the day before my last day! I was out for two hours tops and when I returned my watch was gone. I thought they may had accidentally wrapped it up in the sheet whilst changing the bed, but they didn't change the bed the whole time we were there, I was as so disappointed that it hasn't been returned. not happy and won't be going back.
