"good hotel; nice location"
pros: buffet breakfast; big bathrooms; spacious rooms; comfortable beds; great service cons: the rooms are a bit stuffy, so i would often wake up in the middle of the night feeling really hot, but the ac wouldn't work. thankfully, they had windows overall a nice hotel, quick walk from the vatican and lots of places to shop close by. a little far from the main attractions in rome, but we really liked the walk to most of the locations as we got a chance to walk around and explore the city a little more. really good and within our budget.
Spent 4 nights in this hotel. As others mentioned already, it is indeed quite old, which can look charming on the photos, but in reality it is just old and maybe even a bit creepy with all the fabric covered walls... The sausage and eggs saved the breakfast, but they ran out of the sausage the last morning, which is very surprising for a hotel, let alone a 4-star one. Bed is very soft. Staff were friendly and you can print in the hotel for free. The hotel doesn't deserve 4 stars, however it is rather cheap so at the end of the day it's not bad value for your money.
Very convenient location, close to the Vatican, good breakfast but no restaurant so had to eat out, which suited us anyway ( the nearby sister hotel has a restaurant and a lovely roof terrace with beautiful views over the city ) our room was fine but it was rather noisy, from the street below, which continued until quite late into the night. The staff were good
"A friendly budget hotel for a short stay in Rome."
We booked through Expedia a Triple room for three friends. We contacted the hotel directly to confirm three single beds & the response was prompt and friendly. We also added the complimentary airport pick up shuttle. The airport was chaotic but we had clear instructions on where to meet our driver. Upon not finding him, we called the number provided & again very friendly & prompt response to advise he was there & would find us. So he did & we enjoyed our free taxi to the hotel. Later we added the return shuttle for 15 euros each. This was as good as the value of getting any other transport back to the airport and a lot less hassle. The concierge were so friendly & made everything easy. Turn right out of the hotel & you'll find the Vatican within 2 minutes, turn left & you'll reach the Castel St Angelo within 10 minutes. There are plenty of restaurants in the area & shops for anything you might need. The downsides are that it does need refurbishment. The rooms are dark however we could open our shutters so not a problem for us. Its basic, but for the price we paid we weren't expecting better. The lift is tiny so that might be something to consider if you can't manage stairs. Breakfast is, we thought, not worth 9 euros now the pound has weakened. The breakfast room is very nice, pastries are delicious, scrambled eggs if you want something hot, however the fruit wasn't fantastic & the bread cheap. We opted to buy pastries from the supermarket most days & enjoyed them just as well. I'd say stay here for a short stay if you're on a budget & you'll have a fantastic break due to the lovely staff & location. I'd also say to stay elsewhere if you have the money for a more pleasant room & better breakfast options.
"Three night stay"
Very friendly place to stay. Rooms were comfortable. We were on the fourth floor, one thing to note though the streets can be very noisy and it is very difficult to block the noise out. The lifts are very small, even with three of us and our luggage, we just about fitted in with a very tight squeeze.
