Nestled in the luscious green peace and tranquillity of Aventine Hill, The Sant'Anselmo 4-star hotel is the ideal spot to escape the hustle and bustle of the city after an exciting day of shopping and sightseeing. Housed in a quaint building dating back to the early 1900s, the historic hotel showcases the traditional, subtle colours of Roman homes. From the first step into the reception area complete with family paintings and classic stone fireplace, the elegant decor and furnishings at The Sant'Anselmo create a cosy atmosphere where guests can feel home.
Each of the spacious and welcoming rooms boast exquisite parquet, antique furniture and ornaments which complement the modern bathroom with Jacuzzi bathtub. In summer, The Sant'Anselmo estate garden offers the perfect place to stimulate the senses with a rich continental breakfast surrounded by beautiful green scenery, birdsong and fragrant flowers.
Ideally located on Aventine Hill, one of the most exclusive residential areas in the city centre, The Sant'Anselmo is just a few metres away from the spectacular Sant'Anselmo Benedictine Convent, the beautiful Basilica of Santa Sabina, the Church of Santa Prisca, a masterpiece of Christian art, the romantic Giardino degli Aranci, as well as Circus Maximus. The Sant'Anselmo is within easy reach of the underground station.

Semplicemente la migliore accoglienza mai riscontrata in un hotel. Efficienza e cordialità vere, traspare passione per il proprio lavoro.Comment of N. Gerolamo Giovanni, Italy the 2016-02-20
We had a wonderful experience, helped by the upgrade to room 829 which had panoramic views of the city. Thw Aventine hill area is classy, and within walking distance to all the main tourist attractions (40 minutes to the Vatican was the longest. This was a very special trip for my wife's 60th birthday , so thank you San Alesmo hotel. Whoever you used a an interior designer will one day be sitting at the right hand of the almighty, truly inspirational. Thanks againComment of R. Keith, United Kingdom the 2015-08-28
Stayed for 4 nights with my daughter we had a fabulous twin room with a terrace. This was our retreat after a long days sightseeing. The Circus Maximus and the Coloceum only 15/20 walk, and a very present walk. If I could add two things to the hotel it would be that they did an evening meal and had tea and coffee facilities in the room. I would recommend this hotel and would definitly stay there again.Comment of W. Yvonne, United Kingdom the 2014-10-16
A beautiful hotel in a very quiet location with good local restaurants. I have never slept so well at a hotel before. I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone visiting Rome.Comment of B. Lorraine, United Kingdom the 2014-10-13
Parfait dans l'ensemble salle de bain un peu petite, sinon bien, avec baignoire jacuzzi Sur la colline Aventino, situé entre le vieux et le jeune Rome! Bien pour sortir le soir...Comment of F. DAVID, France the 2014-09-21

Ottimo albergo e personale gentilissimo.Comment of C. Claudiano, Italy the 2014-05-30
This is a very lovely hotel in a quiet location not far from the ancient rome tourist sites. The rooms were small but tastefully decorated. On arrival we received prosecco and strawberries on the house which was a real treat. The breakfast rooms and reception rooms were lovely and complimentary cake and tea was available in the afternoons.Comment of W. Megan, United Kingdom the 2013-12-08
truly amazing stay for my husbands 30th at hotel san anselmo romeComment of P. Georgina, United Kingdom the 2013-11-22
This is the hotel where stories get life, so it's a beautiful place and a start to discover Rome. Every room has it's own beauty. It's the perfect place to be because you don't feel like you are in a hotel room. The only thing i didn't like was that the bar is too small and there is not a restaurant.
What a find.. vacationing in the lap of luxury.. the place oozes opulence.. The room was great, with a huge queen size bed and a massive bath, big enough for two to lie down and soak in.. perfect after a long day sight seeing.. I can't recommend it highly enough.
"Friends staff, lovely breakfast and comfortable rooms"
My husband and I stayed here for our anniversary, we were given a commentary bottle of prosecco which was a lovely touch. Beds are very comfortable, the pillows are amazing. Breakfast is lovely. All staff are very helpful and welcoming. There is a beautiful restaurant a few minutes walk from the hotel called Apuleius. The hotel is a 10 minute walk from piramide station - there is a steep hill to get there so anyone who has difficulties with walking would definitely be better off with a taxi. We found the piramide stop a more direct walk than circo massimo. Our taxi to termini with luggage was only 12 Euro. The hotel is quiet and private. We stayed in November and didn't need air con. Definitely recommend and would return if travelling to Rome again.
"Lovely hotel in peaceful area of Rome"
We were transferred to Hotel Anselmo after booking at Villa San Pio and stayed in room 833 with balcony & jacuzzi. The room was comfortable - some may find the matresses slightly hard but I find they give me an excellent nights sleep. the buffet breakfast was, as expected, excellent and the breakfast room attractive and comfortable. Staff at the hotel are extremely polite and helpful and I thoroughly enjoyed the stay. The location of hotel makes it easy to reach to all areas of Rome, by bus, tram or metro and, with this being my 3rd or 4th stay at the Aventino hotels, I have always felt at ease in the surrounding area. I can highly recommend using this as a base for your visit to Rome.
"A nice and quiet Boutique Hotel"
We were staying at San Anselmo on our honeymoon trip. The service was perfect, and the hotel is lovely located in the quiet and safe Aventino Hill. It's not at the heart of Rome but if you don't mind walking 15 minutes to the Colosseum and an up-hill way back, it's a wise choice out of the city noise. The room service was really efficient and we loved our Vanity Room (806). They cleaned the room twice a day and never felt we missed something. The bed was comfortable and the bathtub is just a dream (place for two without any problem). We just had one inconvenience on our stay, and it was the mosquitoes! Many of them everytime we came back to our room at night. The hotel had to fumigate the external areas, but it wasn't enough. Despite of the mosquitoes incident, we really appreciate the staff was really friendly and we decided to use their taxi service back to the airport. A note about the breakfast: if you are going to stay for more than 3 days, we would recommend you NOT to try a bit of everything but to eat differently every day. They have a good breakfast and you can even ask for the kind of coffee you want BUT they serve all days the same food, even the cakes. We missed a little 'honeymoon-detail' since we saw other reviewers got a little present at their rooms. Nothing serious but that would have been the 'icing on the cake'. All in all, thanks for a great service!
