"Hi tech, low performance rip off"
Stayed at Hotel Beaux Arts for four nights and can scarcely remember being more disappointed in a hotel. The property focuses on form to the exclusion of function -- all kinds of high tech gadgets in the room, none of which added much to our stay, to the exclusion of basic hotel comforts. For example, the bed was uncomfortable in the extreme (soft and overly worn, lumpy) and was creaky (seriously, a creaky bed for $500+/night'); the receptionist promised to have a board put under the bed on day two, but that never materialized (though she called on night three to see if it had....little late for follow through, I'd say) and it wouldn't have helped anyway. The LED-lighted, waterfall style bathroom sink faucets had so little water pressure I could scarcely rinse the soap off my hands. I inquired about that as well with the front desk; no solution offered. The bathroom design was ridiculous -- glass door to the shower that could not be opened if the bathroom door was open; and who thinks a glass door to the toilet is a fun idea' Sadly the only part of the hotel worse than the physical plant was the staff. Virtually all the staff were nice (and some were extremely nice), but none had any training or competence. Our room was delayed for almost an hour upon 4 pm check-in because they were removing down/feather products from the bed (as requested in the reservation made months earlier), but even after the extra time needed to complete this common request, they left a feather pillow top cover under the sheets on the bed and then when asked to remove it, almost refused to wait until we left the room, as I requested. The dining room staff serving a basic continental breakfast were unable to deliver water and coffee to our table without being asked more than once (and even then, had to be asked for cream for the coffee) and could not keep up in replenishing the v basic items being served on the buffet (fruit, bread, butter). The staff simply had no training and no supervision. Ditto the valet -- have never seen a crew so large and yet so unable to manage the expectedly high flow of cars in a large hotel. It was comical, but annoying. Lastly, the $15 "resort fee" and $45 daily parking fee are absurd. This is not a resort hotel and the "resort amenities" are mostly limited in time (30 mins on a few simulation experiences) or utility. I am told that $45 parking is ridiculous for Miami (but, at least that amount was disclosed early and often). I'm sorry I didn't book at the Mandarin up the road, as it's a far better run property, equally beautiful and no more expensive than Beaux Arts.
"Fun & Relaxing"
I would recommend this hotel. The staff was accommodating and very friendly. Our flight was bumped up two hours so I called the hotel to see if they'd hold our luggage if a room wasn't ready. Upon arrival the front desk clerk was welcoming and took my number to call once a room was ready. We walked around the block a short distance to a great outdoor cafe. Before getting our food we got the call that a room was ready. The clerk walked us through and demonstrated the features of the room. We loved the technology of the room. The highlights of the hotel include the AMAZING gym, the view, the bathroom, and the staff. It's a great location to walk around to the local nightlife across the bridge. I will stay here again when in Miami!
"Excellent better try!"
Excellent boutique inside JW Marriot in Brickel. There are 3 floors dedicated to this new brand and the rooms are fantastic, well finished with all kinds of amenities. The boutique facility shares the front of house facilites and there is a fantastic gim and the breakfast is very good too. Only downside is the HVAC noise. I highly recommend this facility.
I was blown away by this property although situated on a busy street it sits on top another hotel....stayed on the 38th floor and the view was spectacular!!! On entering the room its all high tech....lights, drapes, tv, ipad, Bang Olufsen system throughout, took me a while to figure out everything and the bathroom is in a class by itself.... the beds are so comfy, i've stayed at Mariott properties before but these beds are by far the most comfortable! Lets not forget the mini bar all the top brands in liquor and an espresso machine...its a definite return visit for me...
"Don't stay here if you are afraid of heights"
Wonderful hotel. So many hotels in this area it was a difficult choice, but the included breakfast and extra facilities swung in its favour. These included a bowling alley cinema room, gym and golf simulator. The service was excellent during our trip. The room was stunning. Everything we could have wished for including b and o electrical equipment including remote control curtains. The bathroom was stunning. A good 10 minute walk to bayside market but a delightful walk by the sea edge with great views of the surroundings. Getting into the bed was like climbing into a cloud. Superb
