"Not quite a 4*"
We stayed in Hotel Berlin during our midweek break to the city. Whilst there wasn't anything particular bad with the hotel, I still wouldn't quite say it was a 4* property. The lobby area is impressive with nice decor and the check in staff were very friendly, however, during our 3 nights there we didn't see anyone on the concierge desk (ironically until the afternoon of the day we were leaving and they helped up get the best route with public transport back to the airport). We upgraded our room on booking, but I don't really know what we got for the upgrade. The rooms were average, cleaned well. The pillows are awful however and super flat, we had to request more. We ate in the restaurant one night and the food was lovely, you could see they were really busy but it didn't seem to slow down the service. Buying snacks from the reception area though is absolutely extortionate - I don't recommend it at all, you'd be better off walking to the local shop.
Cons: I came with my friend to this hotel and we stayed at different rooms . He was upgraded to a junior suite and I got a standart room as I ordered. The problem was that the room I got had a really bad smell of cigarettes although I ordred a non smoking room. I was told that because I checked in late ( about 22:00) they had no other room to exange with and that I should come tomorrow morning and they would raplace my room. So I came to replace the room the day after and I got a room that at first smelled O.K. Then I went to travel and came back to the hotel at the evening. Unfortunatelly, in the room was a stink smell of pipe and I was very dissapointed that again my room smelled so bad, so I asked to axchange again my room. Finally, I got a room that smelled O.K. but this was my last night at the hotel. I can't recommend this hotel, although the breakfast was good and the room was clean. If you are lucky, you will get a good room and won't feel something wrong, but I had a very bad experience. Pons: Good breakfast, a clean room
"Cool place but stinky room"
Was staying there over a weekend. Had my room in the top floor. Room was very clean and spacious with big window. I had a non-smoking room (I can't believe that smoking rooms still exists) but room stinked like someone had been smoking just before I walked in. Was too tired to complain upon arrival and then away for the most of the time so didn't want to go over the hassle of changing the room. Breakfast was nice, also handy to have a taxi stand right in front of the hotel. Less that 10 minute drive to Potsdamer Platz. Would stay again upon a promise of a fresh aired room. And a better pillow.
Ideally located for public transport, clean, comfortable. Always suits me perfectly. May I suggest some retraining at Reception in the handling of payments might be necessary. You charged me both against the pre-authorisation of my card and again for the actual transactiom at checkout. I am told you are investigating the double charge.
"Very comfortable and welcoming"
Lovely contemporary hotel, well placed for all the sites. We felt welcome and looked after by the staff who did everything to make us comfortable and get the most out of our stay. The room was lovely couldn't believe how luxurious the bathroom was particularly the bath which was the deepest I have ever seen in my life and perfect after a hard days sightseeing. Slept well very comfortable bed, although a large hotel we didn't hear any noise from other guests or experience any waiting at breakfast. I really rate this hotel and am so glad we found it best I have ever stayed in .
