"Good value for money option"
Overall a nice hotel, rooms are clean and comfortable though small. Breakfast is quite good, service is nice and building is relatively close to the city center. In an expensive city like stockholm definitely and option to consider
"Staff ensure it punches above it's weight...."
Got a good deal through a hotel aggregator. It's a decent set up for a business trip. A bit worn out, wifi code wasn't given at check-in - a few niggles but nothing important. Breakfast is good. Excellent bread although the iPad instructed juice machine seemed a waste of time as the juice wasn't that good. Coffee well below Scandinavian standards. Not exactly "very good" but far from being average......decent location.
"Good business hotel near the city centre"
Stayed here for 2 days for a business meeting. The hotel is very good, pleasant reception area with a bar and a very good buffet breakfast. I had a twin room, even though I was on my own, as the smaller "cabin" rooms have no windows and I thought that would be too claustrophobic. The room was fine, TV, WiFi, safe for valuables, iron and ironing board, hairdryer. The tea/coffee making facilities were a bit spartan - powder milk, not UHT liquid variety. No bottled water (always a nice gesture for a hotel to provide). The bathroom was a "wet room" which I don't like as there is never anywhere dry to stand when you have finished showering! Plus, the floor is really slippery when having a shower. But it was fine for 2 days. Went to the restaurant "Farang" just up the road from the hotel. Can highly recommend. Sweden very expensive compared with the UK so be warned!
"Good place to stay"
Everything was fine. We had a good breakfast. The staff was friendly and helpful. There's a metro nearby making easier to move around. There's also some pubs close by in case you want to have a beer during the night. Supermarket it is just around the corner.
"Superior double room not up to standard"
As a birthday gift I received a night for a superior double room at the Birger Jarl Hotel. The room was on the 7th floor (as requested) but was extremely small (Miss Dottie room). The double bed had only one bedside table (space not allowing for another one). It was also very high and the bedframe had several marks. The bathroom wastebin did not contain a bin bag and one of the bedside lightbulbs was dead. Breakfast at the hotel was adequate but certain items (such as butter and cut vegetables) needed to be replaced more quickly. Luckily we made an early start on the Sunday morning at 8am, otherwise we would have had to wait for a seat with the 9am+ crowd. Fantastic location, but the hotel did not live up to expectations.
