"Expensive but Worth It"
Yes, it is expensive. Yes, it is was out of our price range. Yes, it was worth it. My wife and I booked the Executive Suite for our last two nights in Vienna. I realize a lot of you readers out there might think nothing of dropping $400 a night for a room, but for my wife and I it was a splurge. Everything about the Bristol was classy. The people, from the door man, to the receptionists, to the concierge, to all the restaurant's wait staff, were polite, friendly, helpful- all at your service to make sure your stay at the hotel will be the most pleasant and comfortable ever. Our room was extremely comfortable and cozy, wood paneled and wool carpeted, and it faced the opera house. When we closed the windows, the room was almost completely quiet. One reviewer mentioned that the room seemed cluttered, but we found it homey. Would we stay at the Bristol again if we were in Vienna. Probably.
"City visit Vienna from 10/6 to 10/10/2016"
We (small group) were staying at the Bristol for four nights. The service was excellent and we have received three connecting rooms. The concierge was very supportive to find and reserve restaurants for all dinner options (this was not an easy task as Vienna was very busy during these days). The rooms were located on the 5th floor, near to the workout and very nice. The room service was great. Hotel Bristol is located on the opposite of the Vienna Opera (tickets were available at the concierge desk) and very close to Kärtnerstrasse (great for shopping) and most of the sight seeing highlights of Vienna. There are many very good traditional restaurants in walking distance to the hotel. As there is no parking garage available we have used valet parking (35 € per day).
"old classy hotel"
We were there for the Opera. Bristol is the best possible location, but everything is virtually perfect, from plumbing to sleep quality, temperature control, towel quality etc. Vienna has been a capital city for centuries and this reflects on everything, last but not least the Bristol.
"Historic Hotel in a Fantastic Location"
The location couldn't be better. We were able to walk, even in the cold snow, to points of attraction and restaurants. It's also right in front of a subway stop and bus stops, most importantly blocks away from some of the best cafes in the city. It's right next to the Opera House, and if you forget something, shopping is minutes away. The room was nice and cozy, also had a small balcony. Nice bar/restaurant where we sat next to an oversized fireplace for some wine at the end of the night. Interesting history behind this hotel and provides that added experience to beautiful Vienna.
"Tired but still wonderful"
It's been 7 years since we last stayed at the Hotel Bristol. Nothing has changed! And maybe that's the issue. Don't get me wrong. It's still a wonderful location, the staff are still fantastic and it's still a 'grande dame'. But it's a little tired and long overdue for a bit of a facelift. The hotel has the best location, right across the street from the Opera. But do they take advantage of it' No way. A large chunk of the ground floor has been let to a, frankly rather tacky, 'fashion' bar. Their dining room is like a morgue and huge. So do they offer pre or post Opera dinners' No. What an incredible waste of an opportunity. They do have the Bristol bar and it's great (good food and wine, but understaffed). Problem is, it's tiny. Smarten up the rooms, cater for the volumous lunch time crowd and EXPLOIT the fact you are right opposite the opera, and they will succeed. Otherwise, it's just another hotel trading on it's celebrity past, fading into nothingness.
